I bought some Hornady 338 Lapua Mag, 285 and 300 grain match ammo. Every round got stuck in the chamber from excessive expansion. The round shot true and accurate but the chamber thing is too much for me to handle. I can not rate this ammo well.

The 285-grain is far superior to the previous generation 250-grain Hornady product. Inside of 600-800 M it probably will not matter, but up to 1500 M it is very consistent overall. In quality firearms, extraction is not an issue, though the brass is not up to the same specs as Lapua (But neither is the price). I was well under MOA out to all ranges shot.

Pure junk! Every time you shoot them the casings swell to where you cant eject it. I had to use a cleaning rod to pop them out every shot. Go with the federal premium 250 grain.

Probably the best factory ...

Probably the best factory load you can get in this price range. I have reloaded the brass and no issues thus far, but I'm just past break in on an AR30 and have not pushed loads. There is a difference in the rim machining from Lapua & PPU. I suspect Hornady is machining these close to Weatherby 378 dimensions due to tooling. I'm reloading with the 285gr bullet shallow seated, but haven't settled on a preferred powder combination.

My TRG is making one ...

My TRG is making one fuzzy hole at 100 with this ammo. I have shot prairie dogs past 500 yards. I am going to stretch it out past 1000 and see what the rifle/ammo combo will do. I have not seen any pressure problems with the brass or extraction problems. Just really good ammo.

I have shot this with a Zel Custom upper 338 Lapua. The one thing I notice is the brass is very soft. It was VERY difficult to extract the brass from the chamber. Once extracted the Brass primers were blown outward. As for the accuracy, it was decent at 100 yards, but I don't hold that against the ammo. The 338 has a strong kick and it was my first time.

Great price, prompt delivery, and in stock on my last two months! Both orders from the same lot and 285 is the beez-neez. Better ballistic coefficient that does transpose down range. Will upgrade rating to 5 stars if brass proves consistent in reloads. Any one reloading this brass yet?
