I just got this yesterday and I am really pleased with these calipers. They are even nicer than they look in the picture. All the Hornady products I have always used have always been top notch and these are no exception. The digital read-out is soooooo nice. I can't image ever using a dial gauge ever again. This is so much better I don't know why they even still make the dial gauges. This is like upgrading from black powder muzzle loader to a modern centerfire. Excellent product for a very good price.

Update - I can not ...

Update - I can not recommend the Hornady digital calipers. To date I have rec'd and two additional defective Hornady digital calipers. Each skipped entire digit ranges (two in multiple places). Midway was aware and had me toss the 1st one. It is safe to say there is a problem with the quality control of this Hornady caliper. To their credit Midway did the right thing and gave me a full refund which I applied to purchase a Lyman Electronic Caliper 6" Stainless Steel Product #: 154410. Price is no guarantee but this is a more expensive tool and it works flawlessly. Thanks for your dedication to customer satisfaction Midway.

I chuckle when I read a bad review of this product. This caliper runs off of 1, 357 battery where many others use 2 larger 2032's like my 2 Starretts.
When the 357 battery runs low it starts acting up. Just replace the battery and it will work fine.
I have 2 of this model and just ordered 2 more to give as Christmas presents.

Very inaccurate. Serial measurement of same case varied wildly. Don't waste your money on this caliper like I did.

It was innaccurate at first, but used the troubleshooting chart in the directions and blew it out like it had said. After that every once and a while it would get off by exactly 0.200. This seems to have been a problem with things getting worn in because after a hundred rounds or so it has not repeated this and has stayed zeroed since. Lost of a star because of having to clean right out of the box

I mean it is a $20 caliper, it is what it is. But this thing does not zero, i guess you could call it tracking. You go out and gauge something and you come all the way back to what should read 0.00 and it will say 0.05 or 0.07. If you are looking into any sort of accurate reloading this is not the tool. I might add that the tool did work for the first thousand measures, but even with a new battery it will not read right. A guy can be as finicky as the tool and re-zero everytime you gauge a case, but I would spend the extra buck and get something of quality. I am finding more and more that you get what you pay for, and the more reloading I do I realize that there is no reason to even reload if your tools can't make the mark, even if you are only reloading for hunting rounds like me.

This caliper is merely adequate, even at the price at which it is offered. If you move it quickly it jumps and loses zero. I find that if I dont re-check my zero between readings it drifts and gives inconsistent measurements. I like Hornady but I would skip this one, it is no better (or worse) than the cheaper Frankford Arsenal offereing. In fact, I think they are the same unit just re-labeled.

I disagree with the ...

I disagree with the reviews that bash this product.I have one of these and just ordered a second one. I have 2 work shops, a small one on my back deck and the larger outside shop. This way I can leave one in each shop. I also have 2 Starrett electronic calipers and the Hornady version is just as accurate and reliable. Either the Starret or Hornady ones will act up if you get them damp or oily. I use mine quite a bit and periodically spray them down with WD-40 to clean them. They act very erratic until I wipe them completely dry then I have no problems at all. I also have a Frankford Arsenal version but gave it away because it does not have the Auto Off function the Starrett and Hornady have.

I recd an instrument with serious calibration errors also. Contacted Midway Cust Serv. They are familiar with problem & are sending replacement at no charge and without rec'vng defective 1st. Very professional & great cust service ... way to go Midway!Poor product quality on 1st unit. Will update once new one rec'd.
