Nice solid front sight, but this is NOT the short version as other reviews would have you believe. This sight is NOT the one you want if you need a same-plane type front sight. It is the tall front sight designed to be used on the gas block.

I've just used this on a range rifle but seems more than sturdy enough. I wasn't sure from the description on this site, if this was the height for mounting it on a front gas block rail or for mounting on top of a hand guard rail. I can tell you this is the shorter of the two, made for mounting on top of a hand guard-height rail when matching it to a rear iron sight.

Very solid front sight. Installed easy, and is stable. You can hold the rifle by this sight and shake it with ZERO wiggle.

This sight mounts up a lot more centered than the Mako. It's not perfect, but close enough. I'm impressed with the finish and construction. Very good product for the price.

This is a good front sight for the price. It mounts tight and I got good accuracy from it. Then, I tried to mount a national match front sight post from a DPMS and discovered the threads on the UTG post are metric. The nm post will not fit into the smaller post hole.
