Ed Brown Mainspring Housings are fully machined from solid steel. The sharp checkering is machine cut into each housing with expert precision then finished by hand. Custom Snakeskin housings have scales instead of checkering for a unique look. Chainlink housings use a proprietary grip pattern that provides good traction for the hand, without the sharp edges of checkering. The Flat Housing is the standard 1911 design for the clean, classic look. Drop-in fit will work with virtually any 1911 style handgun.

  • The Government Model housing features drop-in installation in all full-size 1911 pistols including full size Para- Ordnance pistols such as the P-14 and P-16.
  • The Officer's model features drop-in installation on all Officer's model frames.
  • Standard mainspring housing with a precision machined slot, and a drilled and tapped hole cut into the bottom.
  • Two-piece design allows easy, drop-in installation of included maxi-well, as well as easy removal of the maxi-well in seconds, without disassembling the pistol.
  • The Maxi-well greatly increases magazine well opening for flawless magazine changes and speedy reloading.
  • No grip modifications required.
