I own 2 Shepherd scopes ...

I own 2 Shepherd scopes and I have had absolutely NO issues with either one except shooting through the same hole at 300 yards all day long. They can be switched between 5.56 and 7.62 AR's with almost no difference in bullet drop compensation marks. Mine have never fogged up during extreme cold temps and have held zero while using quick disconnect mounts for several years. I have introduced these scopes to many people and they will tell you the same thing. They might seem expensive, but you do get exactly what you pay for and in this case it is an excellent rifle scope! I would and have recommended these scopes to everyone...Good Hunting!

I have three Shepherds. ...

I have three Shepherds. Two P-2 scopes and one Shootist (made in 1985). Two have been mounted on very heavy recoiling rifles (the shootist and a P-2-the newest one-) and I have had NO trouble with any of the scopes. They have performed as advertised, and over the last 25 years they have accounted for about 50 or 60 deer, both in my hands and in the hands of friends who have borrowed one of my 30-06's with a P-2 mounted on it. I have hit deer at 600 yards with them. As for the warranty, I just received my Shootist (made in 1985) back after Shepherd refurbished it. They cleaned it, replaced worn parts, insured the parallax was perfect, recalibrated it and purged and filled it with nitrogen, changed all the seals, lubricated the interior mechanisms. And they charged me the whopping fee of $15.00 shipping and handling. This is going on either another 30-06 or a 300WM. I have no problem with Shepherd scopes.

I agree with Nate. I like the scope. William I think you had your ballistics wrong. Or it could be your gun. This scope is very durable. It looks great on my gun. I like the clearness of it. I love the dual reticle system. The one shot zero in is very nice, I love it. I would recommend this scope to anyone with the right ballistics. Great scope. Very clear optics, sharp to the edges. This is my 4th Shepherd. My first one fogged after several hundred rounds of 300 Wthrby and 3 seasons above timberline at sub-zero. I sent it in to Dan and he had it back in a week at no charge. I'll never use another scope... and neither will any of my friends!

The scope began producing ...

The scope began producing patterns rather than groups. When a different scope was placed on the rifle, it shot under 1"--switched back to the Shepherd and terrible results.The warranty service was terrible. Dan Shepherd argued that his scopes never fail and it was a rifle or mount problem. The scope was eventually returned to them. I was told (1)that they couldn't find it, (2)then that they tested it and it was perfect, and then (3)that since it was perfect they sold it to another customer.After much hassel, they refunded the money.If you ever have a problem with a Shepherd scope, you have a problem.

I have no disagreement with Nate and Riley's personal experience. If the scope worked for them, great. I have a 3x10 Shepherd I have had no trouble with. The rifle shot under an inch before the Shepherd was mounted and with the scope that followed the Shepherd. It is not "screwy."I cannot comment on anyone else's experience with warranty service, just my own. The scope was "lost," then it was tested "perfect," and then I was told since it was perfect it was sold to another customer. I cannot imagine Leopold selling a customer's property to someone else. I did, eventually, get a refund.

This scope is one of the finest optical sights I have ever used. We do a great deal of long range target shooting here in Arizona, and I really like the way this scope can handle the chore of focusing and holding on target at ranges of 600 to 1000 yards. The important thing is to match the scope model with the caliber you intend to shoot. In my case, I shoot the 168 gr. HPBT match bullet, which the V2 is designed to handle very accurately at those long yardages. The Shepherd people print a very helpful catalog which explains the format necessary to choose the proper scope to proper caliber relationship. This is an excellent scope. It's built to take a tremendous amount of use and maintain its quality and serviceability.

Like the scope and works as it is listed in ad. Only issue I had was the fact that it NOT made in the USA should of been clearer as I would of bought American if I knew this when ordering.
