After researching many different types of airguns, studying external ballistics tables, reading numerous airgun blog postings, I decided up the Benjamim Trail NP .22. Since airgun pellets are not ballistically designed to travel at either trans-sonic and super-sonic velocities and rifle that produced sub-sonic velocities between 680fps to 720fps was what I was looking for and the Benjamin Trail NP .22 filled that niche. After 500 pellets to break in the action and remove the remaining factory lube, my NP .22 settled down quite admirably. I greatly appreciate Benjamin's Picatinny rail scope base--allowing the use of Weaver/Picatinny style rings. The trigger takes some getting used to, but after 500+ pellets, I know just what to expect when I squeeze it. (However, I do intend to replace it with an aftermarket target grade trigger.) I zeroed the accompanying scope for 50 yards as I figure that is the maximum effective range of this rifle. At that distance, once zeroed, I was able to hold my shots to within 3/4 inch--plenty accurate at that range. Cocking effort was moderate, and the noise level (once broken in) was slightly louder than a whisper. All in all, this is one keeper of an air rifle, and the nitro-piston should give one years of accurate and powerful service. I hightly recommend this rifle to anyone interested in airgunning.

I bought the NP about 2 mo. ago and shoot it daily. This is my first NP and I am sold. I love the smoothness, quietness and lack of recoil. I bought a 22 Super Streak before I knew about the NP's. It is accurate and powerful but I don't like the noise, recoil, size or weight. That is why I got the NP Trail instead of the XL which is basically a Super Streak with a NP and a shrouded barrel. I also have a 22 Marauder and the Marauder pistol. The Marauder rifle is much more powerful, accurate and quieter but it is heavy and you are tied to the air tank. The Marauder is so accurate out to about 70 yds that it is not much of a challenge. It will be my small game hunter but the Trail is my daily shooter. The metal is very nice and I love the stock design although the finish is just average. If I can find a Trail NP with the laminated stock I will get it and sell the hardwood one. If I had it to do over I would have gotten the NP Laminated and the XL to hunt with. I Shoot the Premier 14.3 gr. Hp and the 16 gr. predators. They group about the same at 50'. I haven't had a chance to compare at longer distance.

Gas piston is smooth and ...

Gas piston is smooth and has good power. I don't like the 'thumb hole' stock, it doesn't fit good and is awkward to hold when cocking. Except for sharp edges around a hole in the trigger guard, fit and finish are quite nice for a gun of this price point. The trigger is lousy, but I pretty much expected that. If they redesigned the stock, installed a Rekord trigger....WOW!

I received my new Benjamin today, great job Midway, as always!I mounted the scope, cleaned the bore (it was extremely dirty) and started shooting. The scope was dead on with no adjustments. It shoots straight and will likely shoot better after a hundred rounds or so.The trigger is really sloppy, it has an adjustment screw but doesn't seem to do much. I will likely need to open the trigger up and take a look at what is going on. Overall for the money, this is a great air rifle. Not sure if it is actually any quiter but is not noisy. It also cocks much easier than I thought it would.
