This SKS Scope Mount is investment-cast out of 4140 steel and blued to match the gun's finish. Mount is raised to allow the shooter to use open sights as well as a scope.

Technical Information

Raised to allow use of iron sights

Gunsmithing required: Includes (4) 8-40 thread screws, receiver must be drilled and tapped in order to attach the mount. Mounting hole spacing is 3" center to center between the outer holes and 2" center to center between the inner mounting holes.

Very solid mount, no scope movement at all. High enough to allow removal of the bolt & follower. First mount I've tried that really works well. Will need a drill press to drill holes in receiver. Make sure the serial numbers don't fall under the mount.

Best mount for the SKS ...

Best mount for the SKS available. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean it is great, it just means that everything else is even worse.Pros:Snug and secure mountingDoes not need to be taken off for rifle cleaningCons:Poor workmanship. This is cast metal that is not finished very well! I had to file off some casting "artifacts" that would not allow my dust cover to sit properly.There should be more grooves on this mount! It will not allow you to install a short compact scope (which is what you want to use with SKS due to its upward case ejection). I had to file new grooves in the center of the mount.Having said all that, I would still buy this mount since everything else is not fit for service. Just be sure that you know how to file, grind, and drill.

This mount has one glaring defect = small base red dots will not fit because the picatinny rail does not go from one end to the other. Rather it has a picatinny small rail section at each end, which precludeds mounting short base scopes/dots. It's a stupid design flaw. Otherwise it's a good heavy duty mount.

Got one of these quite a while back. Didn't even take a look, just threw it in w/ a bunch of other parts. Installed it today, piece of cake. But I have to agree w/ other posters... This is a very poorly, cast looking not machined whatsoever. Don't know why the slots are not full length. This really limits the possibilities of usage. It's coming off & I'm installing some Tech Sights. Don't waste your $!!!

Very solid, quality mount. I had to modify my stock some, but that was expected. I have access to a mill at work so I drilled the holes myself. The local gunsmith tapped the holes for $10. The supplied mounting screws are quality grade 8 with perfect threads. Great value. AMERICAN MADE. Highly recommended

This is an SKS scope mount worth buying. I've tried the top cover style mounts and they are just awful. Even if they seem tight at first, they always loosen up after a few rounds. This mount on the other hand is solid. It is made from thick cast steel and is held on by four hardened screws drilled and tapped into the receiver. The finish is a flat black that matches the finish on my Yugo very close. If you have a drill press and tap it only takes a few minutes to install. In my opinion you can't go wrong with Choate products.

Seems like it's made of cast iron. The one I received was poorly cast and appeared somewhat warped. Really heavy. I expected better from Choate. Returned it and bought tech-sights.

Great mount, the one thing I would recommend is to buy a longer set of screws and fit them yourself. The screws I got with the mount were a bit short. Otherwise it's awesome.
