Gold Dot bullets were designed to meet stringent law enforcement standards for dependability and performance. Speer's Uni-Cor construction bonds the jacket to the core for terrific uniformity, and eliminates the opening found on the base of other bullets giving Gold Dot bullets greater accuracy and the heightened core-jacket integrity also aids in more reliable expansion and greater weight retention. This is not loaded ammunition.

Best SD load in compact .45 acp

Loaded to appx 800 fps (actual 798 avg. from 3" bbl & 844 fps from 4") the 230 gr GDHP sb shoots excellent groups to the sights (50 ft). Expansion in wet newsprint is impressive. Will definitely work for SD when/if we cannot buy factory loads in the future. Always keep at least 200 of these on the shelf

This bullet has proven to be extremely accurate from my Colt Commander when loaded with the max Speer book load of Blue dot, equal to or exceeding the accuracy obtained from factory ammo. This is my daily carry ammo and I have no doubt that it will prove to be extremely effective in a defensive role. The only reason I have given it four stars is that I have never yet tested it on meat.

The Speer 230gr bullets shoot excellent out of my 45 ACP. The bullets expand well on game from rabbits to coyotes and hold an exceptional group.

In factory loads, I've found this bullet to expand reliably from 3.5-inch barreled pistols-captured in water jugs after going through beef brisket. I reload it at two different levels-full standard 45 ACP and somewhat reduced to give the same velocity from my 5" barrels as the factory load produces from the short barrel guns. At either level or in factory loaded ammunition, this bullet has proven extremely accurate and reliable in my Les Baer and an STI Sentinel Premier.
