This scale comes in a nice little box with a 100 gram weight and batteries. There is a place to store extra batteries in the scale. I have a small reloading bench and this scale fit the bill. I like its blue display and all the instructions are in the lid. I think this scale is very accurate when compared to my RCBS 505 and LEE perfect powder scale when measuring powder and bullets. This is a quality product that I enjoy using.

This product wanders ...

This product wanders mostly within +/- 0.2 grains. I am a new reloader and was expecting a scale that would be accurate and repeatable. If I wanted 4.0 Grains, sometimes it would read 4.2 and other times 3.8. The only way for me to ascertain a better reading would be to drop 10 rounds and dump the powder on the scale to see what the average grain weight was. I am considering buying a new scale.If this was just to get you in the ballpark, it would be fine. However, I prefer something more accurate even for my quick loads.

Bought this scale from Midway even after reading the poor reviews, and it definitely lived up to it's expectations. I could weigh the same charge four or five times and never get the same reading sometimes with variances up to .5 grains... even when being very careful of environmental considerations (fans, air conditioning currents, etc.). However I did find a wonderful way to fix everything: trading the scale for two wonderfully functioning 1911 magazines and buying an RCBS 505!

I charged 10 cases and ...

I charged 10 cases and accidentally added more powder to one already charged case so I went back, dumped powder and remeasured all charges, very few were correct. Values were upwards of 1.5 grains over and under my load. Comes with the L-n-L classic kit, I would strongly recommend replacing it with something more reliable and accurate.

I have had this scale for two years and am not happy with it at all. It worked well the first couple times I used it but now it takes three or four tries to get it calibrated, and it's still not accurate enough. If you don't care much about precision and want a cheap scale then it will work. If you plan on loading +p handgun loads or shooting long distance matches its not worth risking your life with a cheap inaccurate scale.

I was surprised to see Hornady put out such an awful product. After taring and then measuring a load, the tare would drift both positively and negatively without reason. Getting it to zero was not too difficult, though once I started seeing the drift and compared it to repeated loads on my beam scale, I returned it, as it rarely repeated my beam load weights. I know my beam is working fine within its margin of error, as I've checked it against extremely accurate scientific scales. I would consider this unit unsafe for working with loads close to maximum, and absolutely too inconsistent for other loads.

I used this scale once the first day I got it. I calibrated and waited for it to warm up just like instructions asked. The next time I tried to use it I got the error code for calibration required only the scale cuts off and won't let me recalibrate it. This scale is garbage and will not reccommend to anyone a complete waste of $40.00 and it only took food out of my kids mouth.

This product is not very accurate. I would not use it for precision measurement. I have noticed the weight of the powder pan is never the same and changes during use in Tare mode. It always passes cal but will float. Poor accuracy. Would not recommend this product.

The Hornady GS1500 is a good buy and can deliver reliable measurements within 0.2 gr. based on tests I made with Class S-1 laboratory weights. I also have Lyman grain weights checked on analytical scales. On the GS1500 I found no significant error in readings for weights above 5 grains. At the one and two grain tests repeated weighings revealed marginal sensitivity at 0.1 or 0.2 grain resolution. This sensitivity error shows up when very carefully placing the test weights on the scale. A check using the milligram weights in my Class S-1 set revealed errors due to sensitivity especially below 50 milligram namely, the 10, 5 ,2 milligram weights. For powder charges above 5 grains I would consider any error in measurement from this scale to be of no consequence. I also have an RCBS 5-10 scale and find similar sensitivity and accuracy. With all scales I would recommend the user own and verify the scales accuracy and sensitivity using reference weights such as the Lyman or similar weight sets. The conversion of grains to grams is 1 grain = 0.0647989 grams (64.7989 milligrams. So 0.1 grain = 6.48 milligrams)

This scale does not hold tare well and it automatically shuts off much too quickly (30 sec). Compared with my RCBS 505 and Frankfort Arsenal electronic scales, the readings are not consistent. Use it as a back-up or spare only.

I think it would be wise to use this in conjunction with a beam scale, although this scale has pointed out more errors on the beam scale than the other way around. The beam I have is a Lyman and it is really prone to getting hung up just enough to throw your charge off by a good bit. This scale is always in the ball park but it is always possible that you are a little under or over the number you are after. If you trickle really slow you might be right on but for exact I use the beam scale that I make sure it is swinging free. I think it is great scale for the price and is more than good enough to insure that your beam did not catch on something. If you are not near max load I would not be all that worried using this to measure my loads as it never was off by more than .2 with a little bit of a qualification. It is only accurate if you prop the top cover up against something. If I lay it down the numbers can be off by more than with it up. Also you need to keep any plastic away from it. I had a baggie near it and I guess the static was enough to make it a little jumpy. I also have to believe that if the battery starts loosing its charge it might get pretty erratic. Oh the power off time is a bit short but since I go back and forth from this scale to a beam I mostly am able to keep it turned on.
