Wheeler Engineering has created a fantastic screwdriver set painstakingly designed to meet the needs of all your gun projects, and at a price that is affordable for everyone. This deluxe screwdriver set has just about every bit needed to work on any gun including specialty tools to help with disassembly and hollow ground flat bits specifically designed to match the thin slots in gun screws.

Breakage of a bit should not be considered a defect, rather it means that the fastener will require some other means of removal or an application of a suitable compound that will penetrate threads, such as Kano Kroil. Wheelers Engineers measured the screws on 100+ antique and modern firearms to come up with a selection of bits to fit the widest variety of screws. Bits are S2 tool steel hardened to 56-58 Rockwell C. The 54 hollow ground flat screw bits are made up of 9 groups. Each group is made up of a different width, with blade thickness graduated from thin to thick. This allows the bit to completely fill the slot in the screw head and help avoid damage to screw or gun. Set also includes 15 specialty, 8 allen, 4 phillips, and 3 Torx bits. 2 triangular rubberized handles (8 and 6.25 OAL) provided with 2 shaft extension, and square to hex adapter. All packed in a molded plastic carry case that measures 8 x 10.5x 3 with 2 sturdy hinges, and a single snap latch on the front. Lid of case has a bit locator diagram that lists 6 digit part number that is stamped in each bit. When I received my set, screws had come out of hole positions and were loose in the container. The list made it easier to put them back in exactly the right place. Best/most complete set of gunsmith bits Ive purchased, and Ive tried most of them over the years. Well worth the cost to avoid damage to one firearm.

These bits are MUCH TOO SOFT !!! When a properly fitted bit is used in a recalcitrent screw, and only a moderate amount of torque applied, the result is usually a deformed bit. That deformation swages out the slot of the screw, and no driver will grip properly again. That results in a replacement screw required, which may not be available. I use the Wheeler set only if the screw loosens with light torque. If not, I use a properly ground HARD driver. I MUCH PREFER a driver to break, rather than deform, like these soft Wheeler drivers do. I have had a set about two years now. The commonly used bits are rounded and slick, even though only light torque has been applied to them. I am disappointed with the Wheeler driver set.

For years I just thought I had poor quality bits, but turns out I didn't have the RIGHT bits. Since getting the Wheeler Engineering 89-Piece Professional-Plus Gunsmithing Screwdriver Set I haven't messed up a screw or slipped out of a screw slot. This is a MUST-HAVE for anyone who mounts their own scopes, takes a gun out of it's stock, or actually does his own minor to major gunsmithing.

Okay, I jst received this set as a gift. I have not used it a whole lot yet, but I can only hope that it will hold together under, at least, moderate conditions. I have noticed that Wheeler is not owned by Midway USA any more. There has to be some politics behind that sale, but as we all know, when another company takes over, and that company is worried about nothing more than profit, everything else takes a serious dive. I will just have to wait and see what happens. So far it has performed just fine, but I have NOT put the set under extreme pressures. I might recommend this to a friend?

I use this set at work on a daily basis. I work at a big name outdoors store and use this primarily for installing scope rings and bases. Never had a problem with it and it has all the bits needed with a great range of thicknesses for those really thick screws down to the really thin ones.

Hi all, have some horrible news about WHEELER. I just received this 89 piece kit and let me tell you. Garbage!!! And after being verbly assalted on the phone by a suppravisor at Wheeler, it gets worse...The kit came with all the bits spilt out into the plastic, and cardboard packaging. Which was a task in itself sence the plastic box was snapped shut when I got it??? Now for the worst, the screwdriver shafts are already peeling the chrome off, and are bent, BAD!! Plus after finding out Mr. Potterfield does not own Wheeler or Tipton anymore. Nore does his son work with them anymore. Wheeler and Tipton are owned by a corperation now that really doesnt care about quality at all!!! Case in point, I bought a set of Wheeler screw driver shafts here about 2 years ago, when Larry owned them, These things had hard plastic handles with soft rubber over molded. Tappered shafts that the chrome still shines after 1000s of hours spent in and around every solvent out there. Ohhh and did I mention STRAIGHT! These new ones cheap hard plastic handles with sharp seems from incorrect injectsion molding. And straight up garbage shafts. Bits look ok but are weak, bend supper easy, way below damaging torq levels. I just thought it would be time for the whole set, should have bought it back when they were still made decent. Do yourself a big favor, dont buy this, better off spending 20 bucks at an local hardware store, still out sourced but at least priced appro. Wheeler were qualities job NONE...

Very nice set with more pieces then I'll ever need. The long and short handles are a nice touch too. Wheeler must have changed the packageing after complaints because mine arrived with every piece neatly in its slot after shipping. I turned the box up side down and shook it hard but again, every piece stayed in its place. My only gripe is the bits do not fit snugly into the drivers. Every bit wiggles around which I can't stand. There is no spring loaded ball bearing inside the driver as better companies have. Very irritating to me!Would love to give this product 5 stars but its lucky to get 4 from me because of that.

I have been using this set for a while now and find it to be of inferior quality. Bits bend under normal use. One bit snapped off the first time I used it (T10 torx). The fact that replacements are sold in 3 packs should be a warning. I have been a mechanic for 38 years and I know hand tools, almost all of which now come with a lifetime replacement warranty, these don't. Snap On price but Globemaster quality. Even the cheap Husky junk from Home Depot has a lifetime warranty, the fact that these don't tells you what the manufacturer thinks about their own quality.
