Finally Found A Powder For This Bullet

I picked up these as blemished and wanted an accurate load for my Marlin XL7 with this heavier bullet. I found it with 48 gr of imr4350. 3/4" group at 100 yds.

I shoot this bullet in all my 25-35's. I mostly only shoot 25-35's. This bullet will shoot to 1.5" at 100 yds if you do your part. Hold your shots to 150 yds, better yet 100 yds and this bullet and cartridge is good for elk, bear and mule deer. I love this bullet. Search for point blank range for the 25-35 and this bullet, it might suprise you!!!!

Out of my .25-06, these bullets produce 1/2 MOA groups with very little load work. Exceedingly pleased with their performance on the range. Plan to use them this fall for hunting deer and hogs.

My 16 year old has a.257 Roberts she shot her cow elk at 150 yards in the front shoulder the bullet went all the way throw and lodged in the other shoulder. Bullet weight was still at 90grs. Great round.

Excellent bullet. I killed two deer this season with a Winchester 94 .25-35 using this bullet. Both deer were one shot stops. The first was at 60 yards, the second at 50 yards. Neither one took a step. The bullets passed through completely and were not recovered, but the wound channels were very impressive.

I have been loading this bullet in the 25-35 for 3 years now. My handloads are right at 2400 fps - fast for this cartridge, but not fast by today's standards. I have killed deer at ranges from 25 to 150 yards with this bullet and it works exactly as designed. It expands very reliably and penetrates very well. Recovered a bullet from a deer shot at 30 or so yards and it weighed 71grs. Accuracy is very good at just under 2" from my Model 94 at 100 yards. Hornady has hit the mark with the design of this bullet and its' use in the venerable 25-35. Anyone who doubts this old cartridge's performance needs to try it in the real world with the right bullet before discounting it.

I tried this bullet in my 257 Roberts for whitetails this fall. I am pleased to say that I think I finally found my 'go to' bullet and load. I shot a small doe broadside at about 40 yards and she fell within 10 yards. The bullet was not recovered, but her heart and lungs were mush and there was almost no meat damage since the shot was behind the shoulder. The entrance wound was about the size of a quarter and the exit about the same. Very little bloodshot meat around the entrance and exit. I've been shooting 'pointed' bullets for years....I think I'm going to stick with round nose for a while! They've performed the best thus far!

Loaded this in .250 Savage for a new Savage bolt rifle and was surprised by the accuracy. With a near max charge of RL-15 muzzle velocity is in the 2500-2550 fps range with very low extreme spreads and single digit standard deviations. 3 shot groups at 100 yards sandbagged are less than 1" all day without a problem. I anticipate this working well on deer this fall.

This is the only decent deer hunting bullet available for the old .25-35 winchester. It is extremely accurate, and expands at the low velocities of the cartridge.It is also a very hard to find bullet, and I'm thankful that Midway stocks it.
