I use this product and, alternatively, Hoppes 9. I think the two products do a very similar job of cleaning. But, they differ in a couple of respects.Vs. the Hoppes, this product doesn't appear to leave any residue. So, I doubt it provides any rust protection what-so-ever. But, it does allow you to clean your whole gun, not just the barrel, without oily film left behind to gather dirt.Also, on the plus side, it smells a WHOLE LOT better than Hoppes! So, I use it when I have to clean my guns around the family.

Works as well as Hoppe's ...

Works as well as Hoppe's but more expensive. The REAL reason you want to use this product is that it does not make your house smell like a chemical warehouse and your wife or girlfiriend will NOT complain every time you clean your firearms.

Pleasantly impressed with the speed of cleaning and NO odor. I test ran a couple of wet patches followed by a dry one and finished with a wet BBS (premium solvent) patch. The BBS patch couldn't pick up any residual gunk and stayed clean. The ad mentions lead and copper, but, this stuff works great for powder fouling. "Mr. One Star" May want to try Gunslick Copper Klenz Copper Bore Cleaning Solvent.

I bought this product in hopes of removing lead and copper buildup from the bore of my handgun and found that it took out some of the powder fouling and that was it. It didn't even phase the lead or copper in my bore after extensive scrubbing and soaking.

It does do what it says it will.Patches came out black and blue, indicating it removes powder and copper fouling. However, it took me almost 30 patches before they came out clean. I've used other products that can get the job done in less than 10 patches.

Like the other reviewers said, this product is not the best cleaning product available, but it has no noxious odors or fumes. Great if you clean in an enclosed area around other people, or live in an apartment or other poorly ventilated space.
