This is an awesome bullet ...

This is an awesome bullet in my Ruger #1 .45-70. With a stiff load of IMR 3031 it easily exceeds 2100fps, if your shoulder can stand it. And this is not the only powder that can perform like this. It can consistently produce 100yd three-shot groups that are just one ragged hole in the target. I've only taken one deer with it, but the performance on that deer was excellent. I was in a ladder stand and the deer was coming up out of a creek bed almost straight towards me about 50 yards away. I shot it front-of-chest, just left of center. The bullet came out lower right hindquarter after penetrating length of deer. The deer dropped in its tracks and rolled beck down into the creek. Exit hole was about 2" in diameter. I would hesitate to do that shot again - it was a mess to dress, but the bullet had expanded well.

I have loaded these bullets over IMR4198 and have gotten MOA groups at 100 and 200 yards in my 1895G. These bullets seem to be very accurate, and by the looks of the bullets I pulled out of the backstop, they have held up pretty well. Might not try to put one in a grizzly, but for elk and smaller, they look like they would be fine. None of the bullets cores separated, and they mushroomed out to .800-.900". They also retained around 370gr's or more. Seem like a great bullet. Will report back when I have used them on game this Fall. Scotty

These bullets are very accurate in my Marlin 1895 re-chambered to 450 Alaskan. With cases trimmed to 2.130" and bullets seated to upper crimp groove I get OAL of 2.578". I use a moderate charge of IMR3031 which just fills the case. 100 yard accuracy is always under 2".

This product is Great. I am a Cowboy action shooter and have used Speer products for years. I used these bullets to break in my Marlin #1895. At fifty yards I was able to achieve sub-one inch groups, all day with a variety of powders and weights. I highly recommend this product to other reloaders. I will continue to develop these bullets in loads at one-hundred yards and beyond.

I have shot 200 yard ...

I have shot 200 yard groups from a Marlin 1895G as small as 1-1/8" for three shots. I have used the same bullet and load on deer and a 200 pound boar hog. On the hog the bullet went through the right shoulder and out the ribs on the other side. The distance was 40 yards. No tracking required for either kill. Chronographed velocity for the load was near 1,800 fps.

Excellent control by Speer in the consistancy in the weight of these bullets. I found less than two grains difference after weighing an entire box of 50. I would also like to report excellent accuracy from a Ruger #1, one inch at 100 yds.

I have compared these with Hornady F.P. 350grn, Hornady R.N.350grn Berry 405grn lead F.P. and Oregon Trail 405grn and in my 45-70 Marlin Cowboy rifle these are by far the most accurate. The sweet spot for this gun was IMR 4198 powder at 1750fps. 1 1/2 in. groups at 100yards with open sights.
