This extractor was simple to install, and it works great! Before I installed it, my 10/22 with Clark Custom bull barrel was failing to extract once or twice out of every 10-rd. magazine with all ammo I tried. After I put in the new extractor I fired 30 rounds each of 18 different brands of ammo through it in one day without any cleaning except for a dry patch down the barrel between brands... and it performed flawlessly for every round. No jams, misfires,or failures of any kind, with 18 different brands of ammo, 540 rounds total. I never had extractor problems until I installed the Clark Custom barrel. But this extractor solved my new problem perfectly. 100% drop-in, no modifications were needed on my rifle. If your 10/22 won't extract a round from a new target barrel, buy this extractor. It worked for me.

I ordered 1 of these extractors after reading the current reviews,thinking I had found the answer to my 10/22's jamming problem, NOT SO!! I may have gotten a defected extractor but the results were MORE jamming than the factory piece had caused. The machine work was awful,deep grinding marks on the sides, burrs on the edges,and a matte, almost frosted type, finish.The quality and function of the Ruger extractor far exceeded the Power Custom piece. I may be the only 1 to get a defected piece, but that's not likely.You can always try it but,it's not worth returning. Just throw it away.

The one I got bound up in ...

The one I got bound up in the channel of the bolt on my MKIII 22/45 and I had de-burred it first as he suggested but obviously not enough. Think the main offender is that bump on the very back, you can even see it in the picture and it shouldn't be there. Had one heck of a time getting it out, won't go into how long that took but I had to fracture it. Another reviewer here says it MUST be removed and he is right! I give it ZERO stars and HIGHLY recommend you get the Volquartsen instead.

I have used these in both ...

I have used these in both 10-22 and MKII pistols. The ones that I ordered and used over a year ago just dropped right in and worked perfectly. I ordered two recently to use in both a MKII and a MKIII pistol. After installing, I tried to move them with my fingers and they were binding. I noticed that the edges (the corners) of the extractor that drop into the hole in the bolt and where it meets the plunger were very sharp as compared to the factory (the only sharp edge needed is where the extractor contacts the brass). I used a fine diamond stone to slightly round the sharp corners where it drops into the hole and where the plunger contacts the back of the extractor. I also smoothed the burr on the flat back edge. I had to do this for both the MKII and the MKIII. The extractors then were free to move exactly to the edge of the raised face on the bolt and I shot about fifty rounds in both with no problems. I don't know why I did not need to do this to the other extractors that I had previously installed. Must be cutting costs in manufacturing? I still give these a good rating because with a little tweaking, these work great and are made from hardened A2 tool steel which will last a long time. I would give a five star rating if I didn't need to hone the corners.

I purchased a used Ruger ...

I purchased a used Ruger Mark ll Target Model. Although it looked new it would fail to extract the brass about every 15 rounds. I installed this extractor and opened up a new box of Federal ammo from Walmart. I fired the entire box of 550 rounds and the pistol never missed a beat!

Great extractor!! Sure ...

Great extractor!! Sure you can file and sharpen your factory extractor but the secret is in the spring. More tension allows it to grab ahold of that brass. Great when you have a dud round because you can pull it right out. The factory extractor didn't have the tension to do so.

Class-A extractor it will ...

Class-A extractor it will kick the brass out. Installation was easy and went in bolt without any trouble. I will recommend it to my friends with 10/22s. It is the only way to go!

This extractor really ...

This extractor really throws brass. I put my rifle on its side with the bolt facing up and cycled the bolt with some snap caps and they flew up about two or three inches and the factory could only dream of even completely clearing the receiver and yes in the standing position it will throw brass up to eight feet.

This is a fine extractor. ...

This is a fine extractor. The only issue is the back of the extractor. It has a little sharp raised part that you MUST smooth out. Could have been 5 stars if not for that. Still, it is an excellent part.

I bought this a while ...

I bought this a while back when my gun kept having FTE's. Once I got this my problem was solved. Way better than the factory one. There is just a little burr on this one that you would need to file down but it only takes a second to do.
