The RCBS Automatic Bench Priming Tool is a great tool for the reloader looking for fast, accurate and highly sensitive feel when seating primers. One of the attributes that seasoned reloaders look for in a priming tool is the "feel" so they can tell how deep a primer has been seated, and if the primer they just seated felt like the primer they seated 10 rounds ago. By having a tool that provides sensitive feel reloaders can tell how consistent their priming operation is which helps to create more accurate ammunition. One other great attribute of this priming tool is that it helps to virtually eliminate primer contamination. Primers are fed through auto primer feed tubes one-by-one helping to maintain the integrity of primers by preventing potential contamination from oily fingers. All reloaders have to do to fill up the primer tubes is dump their primers into a primer flipping tray then use the primer pick-up tubes to pick up primers, so there should not be a chance for contamination.

I've primed about a thousand rounds through it so far with out any problems. This tool allows for excellent FEEL. The tool makes it very easy to tell when the primer is fully seated. I periodically check primer depth with my Frankford Arsenal caliper(works great also) and I have yet to find one primer not in spec. If you buy this tool you WILL have to mount and secure it to a surface in order to use it properly. Very simple design and I like how this unit separated the primer to be seated from the rest in the tube, adds for extra safety. If you are new to reloading always wear safety glasses and earmuffs just incase there is an accidental discharge. If you seat primers SLOWLY it will crush before it goes off so never jerk the handle when using ANY priming tool.

Works well and is much faster than single stage press priming. I've primed about 1,200 rounds of pistol brass with it now. I've experienced issues with the quality of some of the steel parts. I've had the shoulder bolt bend and the primer rods bend. The one I bought was made in China, so I assume these issues with the steel are endemic to China made models.However, RCBS service is great - one phone call and replacement parts are sent with no questions asked. Obviously, it is disruptive to a project when parts break.

This tool just plain works, and works like a charm! I can typically prime 50ea 30-06 cases in under 3 minutes with this. Nothing better!

I have always disliked the priming process of reloading. I have used several hand primers. My hands would get cramped and I would lose countless primers due to them being damaged or simply dropping them. I purchased this tool and found it easy to load the tubes. I loaded 300 AAC Blackout for the first trial run since the small rifle primers were generally the worst for me. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to prime with this tool. I even enjoy the process now. I loaded 1000 shells in an afternoon and was giggling the whole time at the difference. The primers seat perfectly every time. My hands were not cramped and I did not lose one primer; not one! This tool will pay for itself in just the primers I save.

I use primarily RCBS and Lee products although I have used many other brands along the way. RCBS and Lee products have never disappointed me. I would suggest this tool as a must have for any bench.

This priming tool is awesome. It is easy to feel the primer seating. Using a #2 shell holder to prime 45 cal brass, I found the primer to be seated perfectly every time without mcuh attention on my part. The design is outstanding. Assembly was easy and if you have any mechanical ability you will have the same experience. I would highly recommend this priming tool for any reloader.

I've used several different priming tools and this is my favorite hands-down. It is very fast, virtually error-proof, and provides excellent seating feel. I bought the expensive Sinclair priming tool just to make sure I was not losing any accuracy using the auto prime. While the Sinclair tool is very nice, this RCBS tool gets the job done to the same quality level and much faster.

I have had this tool for a little over a year and it has functioned flawlessly while loading both pistol and rifle cartridges. The reviewer that gave this cool little machine 2 stars has assembled it incorrectly. I know this because I did the same thing and had the same problem with the primers rolling off the primer rod and onto the floor. In my excitement to get my new toy in operation, I installed the primer cup holder upside down, and after looking at the primer rod I realized this and flipped it around and was good to go, (it helps to read the directions). As far as loading the primers into the tubes, it's really no biggie, and you seriously get the primers seated so fast it's amazing. So ya, if you want a great piece of reloading kit that gives you excellent primer "feel" and is easy on the hand, then give this tool a shot. You won't be disappointed. And if you can get it on sale, you are way ahead of the game. Yes, I would recommend the RCBS auto priming tool to anyone, it requires no brains, works very quick and fun to use.

This is an excellent priming tool. It has good feel and is easy to tell if the primer is seated well. I like the leverage because I have arthritis. When I first got it, I put it together wrong. The staff was very helpful and we readily got it working. It is a very sturdy tool unlike some of the hand primer tools.

I bought this after seating several thousand primers with an RCBS hand prime tool. My best advice is to buy the bench mounted prime tool. Its faster, easier on your hands, jams less, and has better "feel". If you are only loading a few hundred rounds a hand tool would be OK. If you are loading a few thousand, get the bench mounted tool.... you wont regret it.

I bought this tool about 1963, and it works just fine. Suggestion, if you have limited work bench space, get the RCBS bench mounting plate. You can easily mount this tool, a press, or most of the RCBS tools without drilling a lot of mounting holes. As for loading the primer tubes, a small cardboard box lid, (1inch by 4 inch by 6 inch) makes it easy. Just dump the primers into the box, and bounce the box until the primers are bottom up. Push the primer tube on those that are up, and then redo the procedure. I have been doing this for years. The tubes hold about 65 primers, and I have extra tubes for large and small primers. I also set up the tube support arm with a extension spring to load the tube arm to the rear when I release the tube. It is very important to adjust the height of the shell holder shaft, so that the primer seater plug just clears the next primer that will drop into the seater plug, and then drops into the seater plug when the tube is pulled forward. If it does not, the primers can flip over, or go sideways into the plug if you are not watching them.The tool makes it very easy to feel how the primer is going into the brass, and you can feel if you have oversize primer pockets. Much easier to use than the APS system, and the primers are cheaper.
