We purchased the item for ...

We purchased the item for use with matching Ruger 10/22s and typical .22LR 40grn bulk ammo. Construction quality is very good but the swing arms do not function reliably with the .22LR. The arms are grouped as 2 sets of 4. The spring tension adjustment effects each group but unfortunately the top arm on each group has light tension and swings wildly when hit while the bottom arm of each group is weighted down by the 3 above and it swings very sluggishly. The bottom arm of each group rarely moves, even when hit repeatedly. I have tried repeated adjustments and lubrication with no improvement. I believe the problem lies in the basic design. We have yet to have fun using the target for sporting side by side shooting as it doesnt "keep score" accurately.

I bought this for a little friendly compitition between my father and I. It worked great for about 100 rounds and then the arms got stiffer and stiffer. I took it apart about 30 minutes ago thinking the problem was with lead fowling. What I found was nylon bushings that are riddled with lead splatter. This target is a great idea, but cheap production, and a lack of foresight has produced a horrible product. The best I can say about it is that if you take the guts out and lay it sideways it still works as a gong.

Do not buy one of these. It does not work as advertised. The targets do not function back and forth. Contacted manufacturer and was told to fix it myself.

I'm using my gun boards' user id instead of my name. Here's my experience w/ this target:I bought it hoping to have some fun man-on-man competition w/ friends. Unfortunately we cannot reliably flip the arm w/ centered hits using _EVEN_ high velocity .22LR 40gr. I say "even" because we normally use competition grade standard velocity ammo and hate to switch ammos (but we did it for this). Our distance was 40 meters (which is the min distance our range allows for steel) and we've tried with rifles (even though I bought it for pistols, we switched to rifles since our pistols seem to only flip the arms <25% of the time).Granted, the pictures on this thing's box featured 2 shooters at what looks like 15 - 20 yards distance. But frankly, 40 meters isn't far and it isn't much of a challenge at 40 meters (i.e. we really wanted to move it to 60 meters).Also, I'll give you a warning. Once you back out the hex screw too much (to decrease spring tension), it falls out of its screw hole. Because of the springs, it is impossible to re-screw it back in... leaving you with an arm that has no tension. I exchanged for another one, which IMHO is a bad move, I should have returned it for a refund.Now I have this thing and don't use it. Maybe if I ever buy a 22 magnum gun I'll be able to use it as it's supposed to work.

I purchased this product so two shooters could compete at the same time. It has never worked. I have never been able to adjust the tension in order for all the targets to change sides. If you adjust some to work, the others will not. Same with this companies other products. Don't waste your money by purchasing this item.

Have to modify my first ...

Have to modify my first review. I emailed the mfg, and they responded VERY favorably. Eventually sent me a new target, and my friend a replacement 'paddle' for his. The new one works MUCH better; don't know why. Still not 100% with 22LR handguns, but MUCH better. Works fine with 22LR rifle. Still needs to be 'loosened up' a bit. Note: you MUST firmly 'pin down' this target for it to work properly. If you don't, it will just 'move' and the bullet energy will not 'flip' the paddle over as it is supposed to. I used the included spikes, AND a couple of large rocks on the feet. Still not perfect, for handguns, but getting better!
