If you're going to shoot a .338 Lapua, you might as well pay the money for the Lapua brass and bullets, because Lapua clearly makes the best products! I shoot these Scenars out of a custom rifle I made with a McMillan G30 action. I could not be happier with the groupings! Ive only shot out to 1000 meters, but Im sure they are just as good at further distances.

These bullets are incomparable. I shoot a TRG-42 at various ranges out to 1000 (only because I have not found a range within 200 miles which is further). An outing to the Whittington center in late 2010 saw my rifle shoot a 5-shot .998" group from the 600 yard line. You cannot do that with substandard bullets. There may come a day that the Scenar is no longer the best, but I'll wager it won't be soon.

I have been shooting 50 cal benchrest for over 30 years and 338 Lap since day one. I only use the Lapua proj and VVO powders. Suggestion is - believe the factory knows best (they DO). Using match handloading benchrest techniques I can achieve 1,000 yard accuracy consistent 4 inch groups with many under two inches. Know that I do live and breathe just two calibers for Bench and no longer compete. Getting over 60 is a pain. I have tried most projectiles and am quite happy with the Scenar. You have no hope of improving skills unless your equipment is better than you.

I shoot an Accuracy ...

I shoot an Accuracy International AWSM in .338 LM and these are by far the best Match Grade projectiles available. I do recommend uniforming the tips just to be nit-picky, but these bullets are all virtually identical as far as length, diameter, and weight, which all precision shooters know- equals smaller grouping. I use Lapua Brass, VV N165, and CCI 250 magnum primers with this bullet and I have never got anything larger than 1/2 MOA all the way out to 1000 yards.

Since the 300-grain Sierra set a standard no other .338 match bullet could equal, I had to give this bullet a 4-star rating. It produced a 5-shot 3/4 MOA group at 200 yards. I used Hornady brass, Federal 215 Match primers, and Retumbo powder.

I shoot these in my Blaser 338 lapua LRS2 and they by far are the best I have ever used! You cannot buy a better bullet than lapua!

Using the Vihtavuori ...

Using the Vihtavuori Manual's accuracy recipe for the 250 Scenar in FL sized Lapua cases & Federal Magnum Rifle Primers loaded to maximum overall length, my Accuracy International AWSM will shoot this load to 600 yards sub 1/2 MOA. This is not the max load, but seems to perform well out past 1100 yards with very consistent results, as well. The bullet is much less affected by wind than other bullets, I had been using previously. The less than max load seems to be good on barrel life, as well with little sign of barrel throat deterioration. Definitely, the bullet for accuracy in the .338 Lapua.
