This leather ammo carrier ...

This leather ammo carrier is superbly made and fit like a glove on the stock of my 1895 Guide gun. The suede stock protector under the lacing is a nice touch and very functional. The ammo carrier mounts very tightly on the stock and does not shift during recoil. My only complaint is the package included no instructions for lacing the ammo carrier onto the stock. I laced it in a manner similar to the way you lace a shoe and tucked the extra lace under the lacing. It looks great.

This cheek rest is made ...

This cheek rest is made of high quality leather (very tough too). The round fit very snug with a little persuasion. It looks great on a Marlin Guide Gun. I had to cut a small hole in the under-flap for the sling loop to fit through. Overall, very pleased! Kinda costly but worth it!

I bought this for my ...

I bought this for my Marlin GBL, received it and my first thoughts of it were "awesome quality" from the good looking packaging to the great craftsmanship of the product itself with its THICK stitching and smooth leather. Looking closer at the leather, I found it to be thicker then I was expecting (about 3/16'') with a rich even finish that looks very handsome on the rifle with and without cartridges in its loops. As others have pointed out the leather and lacing cord is quite stiff coming out of the package; I didn't find this to be an issue when strapping it onto the buttstock but if you have arthritis or slightly weaker hands you may find it difficult to get it laced up tightly... I did end up taking a few layers of skin off of my fingers pulling it tight (in my opinion a small price to pay for something that is crafted to last) Lastly, on the function of the product, I found zero slippage of the cuff after a box of buffalo bore and more then a couple boxes of Ultramax ammo(very pleased). Just keep in mind I wouldn't expect anyone to be pulling off any cowboy action "speed reloads" with this thing straight out of the package... The cartridges are held VERY tightly in it's loops but it is no different then a good pair of work boots, they need to be broken in and they only get better with age...Happy sporting!

I just picked one up for ...

I just picked one up for my Marlin 1895XLR in 45-70. All I can tell you is if your thinking about this just buy it! I cut a small piece out of the leather under-flap so my strap holder could poke through and it worked great! I used a leather treatment on it and put 6 shells in it, took it to the range and shot 25 rounds with this on the stock! Everything stayed exactly as it should have. Looks good and performs great! BTW, I also bought a leather strap to round out the looks, and the ease of carry\shooting! But, this is worth every penny.

Got this for my marlin ...

Got this for my marlin 1895G. It fits very nice, holds 6 rounds, and looks cool. I have shot 50rnds in an hour and it didn't move at all, so I was happy with that...Matthew Myers said in his review he wished that it had a flap around the bottom to lace it in and help keep it in place, and they did just that! Mine came with a little flap that wraps around the bottom! Also, it adds more weight to gun, but I didn't mind.

Put this on my 1895 .450 ...

Put this on my 1895 .450 Marlin. Fit is good and quality seems to be top notch as well. Heavy leather is a bit difficult to cinch down but with a little effort you can get it. Nylon lacing is good and heavy. Very difficult to put shells in the loops. I imagine after a time the leather will stretch slightly and I will have to retighten the lacing. Shell loops should stretch out some too for an easier fit. I like it. Looks good and I have 6 backup rounds.

I bought this for my H & ...

I bought this for my H & R Buffalo Classic. Galco makes high-quality leather goods and this thing will last forever. My only complaint is that it will occasionally slide forward out of place on the stock and I have to jam it back towards the end of the stock. It usually does this when I am shooting multiple rounds at the range. I wish it had a flap or tongue that would wrap around the butt end of the stock and then get laced in. This would keep the carrier from sliding forward on the stock and I could happily give it 5 stars.

Purchased a RH cheek rest ...

Purchased a RH cheek rest carrier for my Armi 1874 Sharps Sporter and HnR 1871 Buffalo Classic single shot rifles in 45-70 Government caliber. Mine came with a black nylon lacing and six (6) rounds capacity. I agree with earlier review regarding overall leather stiffness and snug fit of cartridges when new out of the box. Some break-in was required. On the RH carrier side of sleeve, straight wall cartridges tend to strighten-out the leather against the RH side of stock; on other LH upper side the leather retains its stiffness, so that I can see some day-light between stock and leather, right about cheek rest spot. Again this may go away with time and tightening. A thick suede toungue also protects laces wairing out wood stock underside. A high quality leather product with strong brass grommets.
