The Emergency Rear Sight (ERS) is a folding, A2-style, dual aperture rear sight that mounts to any flattop AR-15 upper or M1913/Picatinny-style rail. It locks firmly in the up or down position via a detent button, ensuring positive activation. Windage knob is identical to that used on the M16 A2 rear sight. Constructed of hard anodized 6061 aluminum.

This sight fell apart ...

This sight fell apart while shooting after only 300 rounds. The pin that it pivots on to flip came out and it sent a spring flying. I have read about the same thing happening with other users on other reviews. I went with a Magpul BUS to replace it. I would not recommend the MI one!

A great replacement for ...

A great replacement for your fixed back up sight or addition to your optics ready upper receiver. It hold up pretty well after shooting a little over 200 rounds with it. The flip up mechansim is very durable and it hasn't shown any signs of loosening or rattling unlike the cheaper ones on the market. My only wish is it could have come with a push button flip up release but Im very satisified overall.

I purchased this sight to ...

I purchased this sight to compliment my MI gas block front sight. They go together very well and exhibit a great sight picture. The screw is a standard head which, when seated, sits flush with the side mount. The locking mechanism is very solid and appears to be very well made. The dual aperture is a little stiff when new, but that is to be expected and will "break-in" with use. I really like the sights from Midwest Industries and wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again. A real great product!

A very well made solid ...

A very well made solid flip up rear sight. It works flawlessly with A2 front sights and is an excellent backup sight system to holographic or red dot sights. It snaps up into place with positive detent and holds zero very well. It has a little play in it in the up position but does not seem to effect the zero on it as I can put 30 shots in a 6" round target at 100 yds free hand with it and the A2 front sight on my flat top DPMS 5.56 mm upper and Bushmaster A2 or Rock River A4 lower. I would definitely buy another if I build or buy another caliber upper that needs a rear sight.

Very good value. This ...

Very good value. This makes a great backup sight to a red dot or reflex sight. Snaps up with positive detent and holds zero remarkably well, even after being flipped up and down repeatedly and some pretty rough handling. The sight does have some play in the upright position but certainly acceptable for a flip up. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I very much like mine. ...

I very much like mine. Seems to hold zero well, but mine usually will stay down beneath my Burris AR 332. (They don't seem in each other's way). I put a night sight insert in mine, and have another MI flip up on the front. The setup works well for me, and I like this well made sight.

Bought a gas block sight ...

Bought a gas block sight and this from MI and I'm very happy with both. For the price/quality ratio you really can't beat them. I feel they are just as nice as YHM and definitely can hold it's own against GG&G and ARMS.
