I shot Sierra 39 gr ...

I shot Sierra 39 gr Blitzkings out of both my Savage model 12 VLP and Model 10 Predator for all my varmint and coyote hunting until I shot a couple coyotes and a few raccoons at ranges closer than 50 yards. The Blitzkings blew up on the hide and made horrible surface wounds causing the animals to suffer. So I tried these Hornady 45 Soft Points and while they don't have quite the long range trajectory of the blitzkings they are every bit as accurate and put coyotes and large raccoons down hard ! Always with complete pass troughs. Shot a large raccoon across a creek at about 30 yards last winter weighing almost 50 pounds - went through him busting both shoulders and he was dead instantly. The trajectory is very close to the same point of impact out to 150 yards, so I carry both when I go hunting now. I use the 45's when my shots are a 100 yards or less and the 39's when the shots are more likely to be 100 yards and farther. Just to show the difference in toughness between the two bullets - the 39 gr Blitzkings just splatter when they hit anything with any resistance whatsoever, but the 45 gr soft point Hornady's will go through 7/16" mild plate steel out to 100 yards. Tough little bullet that thinks it's a big game bullet I guess.

Great bullet, drops pd now and stops coyotes in there tracks. .4's around 3800 fps out of an XR100.

Less damage to hide than V-Max. But about the same hide damage as Blitzking once you take a exit wound into account.Penetration and accuracy.It will penetrate a 4 inch thick phone book from 100 yards. Exits at ~30 caliber.Took 4.5 inches of dry phonebooks, and a half inch sheet of plywood, before we finally 'caught' a bullet.

Far more accurate than the 40 VMAX and comparable to the Sierra 39 gr. BlitzKing in my off-the-shelf Remington ADL. So far, most accurate with IMR 4064. At short range it does not open up nearly as fast as the polymer pointed bullets. Promises to make a satisfying coyote round. Exactly what I was looking for. How about boxes of 250?

Great accuracy with these ...

Great accuracy with these bullets. I've shot both Hornady factory loads and hand loads with the 45gr SP through a NEF Handi Rifle. Both were giving me .75" groups at 150 yards.I wouldn't recommend to most people to use these on much larger game than varmints. With that said I've used these on Mulies, Antelope, and Whitetails. I've taken a Mulie at 250 yards with a neck shot another at 150 with a spine shot, antelope at 200 yards with a double lung shot and a whitetail with a headshot at 175. I've had no problems with penetration or break up of these bullets. Never recovered any of the bullets because they've always exited. So you can use these effectively on midsized game, with well placed shots.

Very accurate bullet. I loaded a modest amount of H335 in Hornady Brass with Federal GM Match Primers. The bullet shot .5" five-shot groups at 100 yard in my Savage 12 VLP-S(standard 1 in 12" twist). Tested the round at 300 yards for giggles and it dropped about 4" and the group size opened up to about 1.5", maybe less. No surprise there! There were no flyers, no keyholes, just bug holes. I am new at loading the .204 Ruger and this was my first attempt with this bullet weight in that cartridge. If this bullet performs as advertised on game, then the .204 Ruger just became King of the Varmint/Predator cartridges.
