I used Reloader 22 with these it took me a while to find a load I was using Speers load data and seating depth but none worked, So I decided to try Sierra's load data along with seating depths and found the perfect load near max in my TC Venture 7mm Remington Magnum. I am getting a 5 shot group ranging between .89 to 1.15 good enough for me. I also took shots out to 435 up hill (range finder) at a 6x6 metal plate hit 5 out of 5 shots I would not hesitate to try these on Elk. Try a box you will like them....

Shot a .466" group at 100 ...

Shot a .466" group at 100 yds in my NEF .280 today over a book load of IMR 4831. Excellent accuracy! I've had great results for 20 years with the Speer 165 .308 BTSP on whitetails, can't wait to see how this does on Alabama deer.FOLLOW UP- 2/1/2010I've now killed 4 whitetail bucks with this bullet from my NEF Handi Rifle mentioned earlier. Shots have ranged from 80 to 165 yards. Only one deer, a 150 lb 6 point that was the 165 yard shot moved at all after the shot. He was shot behind one shoulder and the bullet exited smack in the middle of the offside shoulder blade and ran 60 yards before crashing. The others were bang-flop, and all bullets exited. As compared to the 165 gr Speer BTSP in .308 Win, this bullet does not knock as big of a hole when it hits bone. If I hunted with the .280 all the time I'd have shot several others with this bullet, but I have no complaints-- this is my only experience with 7mm bullets on whitetails and one shot kills and bang-flops are hard to fault!

Very good bullet. My 7 Mag loved these with RL 22 near a max charge. Groups were a bit erratic with the lower charges but got tighter as I got closer to the max charge. Easy to get under 1" @ 100 yards with these now.

I have found the 145 Speer SP HotCor's to be extremely accurate in my Rem 700 Mtn LSS 7mm-08. Off the bench, 100Yd groups average between 1/2" to 3/4" and 200 Yd Groups average about 1 3/4".It was my first season to hunt with these bullets, but I took a nice 8Pt at about 75 YDs with a broadside behind the shoulder shot. I got complete penetration and about a quarter sized (maybe a little bigger) exit hole. Deer went about 20 Yds & dropped. Excellent performance! Don't you couldn't ask for more!!!

I use this particular bullet for several reasons. In my 7x57 with its original barrel I get excellent accuracy. In two 7-08s I also get excellent accuracy. One of these rifles is an out of the box factory rifle, the other has been blueprinted and has a custom barrel. The top reason however is the expansion, quick kills and minimal meat destruction I have experienced on white tail deer.
