Product Information

The Lee Melter Furnace was designed especially for the ladle caster. It is a high speed melter with an infinite heat control and 500-watts of power. This melter easily handles 4-cavity molds and takes less than 15 minutes to melt 4 pounds of lead. This furnace does not have bottom pour capability and is designed for ladle casting only.

I bought this as a low cost alternative for when I can't use an outdoor propane burner. I prefer to ladle cast. I cast about 300 158 gr semi-wad cutters so far. Fast melt time, quick recovery, better heat control than I'm used to with propane. A little small but I had no problem using my Lyman dipper. Good price and does what it is supposed to do. This is the only electric furnace I have used but am rating 5 stars because so far I am very happy with it and as always excellent Midway service.

Not much to say about a ...

Not much to say about a simple melting pot. I does what it's supposed to quickly and keeps it up as long as it's plugged in. With a 4# capacity I can get around 125 158 gr bullets before the lead gets too shallow to make the rest practical to get at. For my needs it is ok.

Have cast about 200 slugs so far using this pot. Took about 15 minutes to melt 1 lb of alloy, and the pot can hold about 2 lbs safely. Fast to heat, consistent heat, couldn't be happier.

I owned my second one since before the end of the Vietnam war and finally had to order a new heating element. replaced the element and it is just as good as a new one. but a little more beat up. I like the idea of parts availability

I purchased this in 1988 and have melted hundreds of pounds without a hitch over the last twenty+ years. Keeps right on melting year after year. Melts quickly and stays consistent. Cools fast once I unplug, so feel safe leaving it alone. Great product.

Very good product for what it costs and what it does. Heat-up is quick, temperature control is good.The problem I am having is simply with quantity. I'm casting a *lot* more than anticipated, so I will be moving up to a Production Pot in the not-too-distant future.If fairly low-volume casting, using a dipper will work for you, then this is a great bargain, and highly recommended. If you think you might end up doing high-volume casting (especially if you have any sort of six-cavity mold), you should probably look to either the production pot, or at least the Magnum Melter.

I bought this melter furnace because I needed a small furnace to cast bullets and my fianc needed a way to melt sealing wax for invitations, I figured this would be the perfect combination for a win-win situation. It took her a little while to find the optimum process for melting the sealing wax and ended up having to unplug the pot after it heated up or it would burn the wax and smoke up the house like nothing I have ever seen. Using this sure made the process go by quicker and now I have a lead casting pot. For the money this little pot can not be beat. If you are just starting out casting this furnace is a great one to start off with and it wont hurt your pocket book either.

This melter is perfect for my needs since my casting sessions are not very long, I'm casting .22 and .30 caliber bullets, and only use two cavity molds. This thing heats quickly, keeps an even temp, and is very cost effective. Thanks again Lee!!

I have and use the Lee Melter furnace going on 18 years now. It is a great product for very little money spent. I have cast thousands of .357 Max bullets without any problems. I'm getting a little tired of the dipper method so I'm thinking of buying the Lee Production Pot soon to hold more casting metal and for the ease of pouring the liquid metal through a valve.
