The Lee Case Trimmer and Cutter is designed to be used with only Lee Case Length Gages and Shellholders (sold separately). This handy tool is made from hardened steel, trimming cases to correct SAMMI specifications has never been easier. The shaft on the lock stud allows the setup to be turned by hand or with an electric drill.

I have used all kinds of ...

I have used all kinds of case trimmers over the years and I am convinced of one thing, you can't beat Lee's case trimming system. Why waste your time sitting around measuring cases picking out which ones need to be trimmed, then setting up your trimmer to trim to the right length, then start trimming, and then come along and debur all of your trimmed cases. Here is what I do, after resizing my cases I grab my drill, chuck in the lock stud, grab the correct case length gauge and cutter head, I trim the case and debur it before I take the case out of the lock stud. It takes about 3 seconds to trim and debur each case and it's all motorized! And instead of measuring each case to pick out the long ones I trim them all so all my cases are the same length each time I load them. Please don't waste your money on a more expensive system that is going to do nothing but slow you down and wear out your arms!

Not fancy, not sophisticated, but like many Lee products it does the job very well at a low price. If you are going to trim hundreds of cases this may not be what you are looking for but if you are doing limited rifle shooting this is a very inexpensive way to go.

Works well. I use a battery powered drill to trim length and leave the case in the shell holder and run the case thru 0000 steel wool to clean the brass.

Way better than a lathe ...

Way better than a lathe type system. I put the shell holder and the length gauge in the box with the reloading dies (I also put the press shell holder in the case). When I take out the box for a given calibre, I have everything I need. I don't need to look up the length or even worry about it. I put the drill adapter in a cordless drill and a big plastic bowl (for tossed salads - $1 at the dollar store) in my lap, I have the brass in the ammo box I use for the load and I can trim while reclined on the couch watching TV faster than I ever could hunched over my reloading bench with an RCBS hand trimmer (probably faster than the electric one too as I am always fumbling with the "one size fits none" shell holder they use.) Additionally, while I have the brass in the drill, I can hit it with the chamfer/deburring tool - zip, zip, done. I just bought 1000 rounds of once fired brass and got to the trimming step and thought - there has to be a better way - this is it! $6 for this $7 for the wood ball grip cutter (It would be nice if you could just get that with the drill adapter, but at these prices, who can complain) and about $5/calibre for the holder/gauge. With the RCBS trimmer running $93, you can get outfitted for 16 calibres before this method becomes more expensive. And at $290 for the RCBS power trimmer, your break even point would be around 55 calibres. Even if you load more calibres than that, it is worth it! Pick a calibre, shell out the $18 to get started, try it out and then buy the rest of the calibres it is a no-brainer.

Works great for me. Chuck it in a drill and it will trim brass very quickly and easily. I've trimmed about 200 pieces of brass with mine so far and it is still as sharp as the day I got it.

Works great with the Lee case gage in my drill press. I use a piece of an old circular saw blade clamped to the table to prevent dimpling set the drill at low speed and trim a hundred 308 cases in just a few minutes. Works best if lube is wiped off.

The cutter is cheap but ...

The cutter is cheap but not reliable. There is no way to measure the lenght of the sizing rod that determines your case length. So, if you screw it in tighter, you will have a shorter case, or if you do not tighten it enough, a longer one. Too much trial and error before you can get the right length. Also, your hand gets tired quickly so make sure you buy an electric screwdriver or drill that will make your life easier. LE Wilson makes a much better trimmer, but also much more expensive. If you do few cases at a time, buy this unit and after you adjust the size, you will be set for a very long time for only 6 bucks. If you do many cases, look elsewhere.

Threw mine away a long ...

Threw mine away a long time ago, when I could no longer crimp the bullets on my 35 Rem cases, because the cases were getting too short to reach the crimping shoulder of the seating die. How can this happen you ask? Well let me tell you, it has to do with that pin that goes through the flash hole and comes to rest on the stud, after years of use it drilled a little hole in the stud, that just got deeper and deeper, hence not stopping the blades from cutting. Needless to say I had to throw away allot of good brass, before I realized what was going on. I wish Lee would have used better metal in this product, I would have gladly paid the extra money.
