Product Information

Hogue OverMolded stocks have fiberglass skeletons with the same permanently-bonded rubber coating used on Hogue's popular handgun grips. The non-slip coating is quiet and durable. The grip and forend have a cobblestone texture for a sure grip. All stocks come with Uncle Mike's swivel studs and recoil pads. Features a 13-3/4" length of pull and a standard sporter profile, not stepped for military barrel. This stock will not fit an M48 Mauser. It will, however, fit a K98 Mauser (provided the action has a sporter barrel).

This stock is THE most comfortable one that I have found (I have tried numerous!) It has a nice fitting hand swell in the grip and the stock is NON-slippery! My 358 mauser action went into the stock with only very minor fitting and shoots like I spent hours bedding it. Can't praise this product enough except that I am buying more!

I am undecided on whether I will keep this stock. It is too bad the design or quality is somewhat below average. My action fit the stock perfectly in the bedding area however, at the fore end tip, there is an unsightly gap, a 1/4" or more, between the bottom of the barrel and the barrel channel. Side to side there is about 1/16" on each side which is fine. After trying another action in this stock with the same results and putting the action I purchased this stock for in a different synthetic stock which didn't end up with the gap, I came to the conclusion that there must be some downward cast to the stock core in the fore end. This is also supported by following the top line of the stock as it related to the barrel centerline. I like the feel of this stock but this fore end problem bugs me.

Bought this for a WWII K98 with original stepped barrel. Took less than 1/2 hour with a Dremel tool to fit stock including modifying for Bold trigger with side safety.

I switched over from a bishop walnut to this stock, had a little trim job on the front of the floor plate that took all of about 5 min. Great fit and it is lighter than the wood. I can't wait to get to the range. Buy this stock!

This stock is great for the money. The 98 K military contour barrel 8x57 works with this stock.I had to trim a little.The only gaps are right before sight base.The trigger guard has no gaps. I wanted a working gun and this stock does it .

This stock was a drop in fit for the action with a sporter barrel. Minor trimming for the safety lever. The military floor plate required minor trimming on the forward end. Installation took about 25 minutes total. Excellent product.

purchased one for brno vz mauser chambered in 458 win mag. without a brake, this stock sucks up so much recoil that target shooting a box of 20 is not at all unpleasant. pillar bedding is very nicely done and is as if it was actually pillar bedded to my particular action, no rocking at all and action screws snug up and tighten to a complete stop effortlessly. am purchasing more to replace boyds stock and original military stocks on three more mauser projects. wish there were more stars to rate this product...

I bought this for a Spanish 8mm Mauser 98 and am very happy with purchase. Used to replace old cracked stock, had to shave off some material for snug fit and now has better weight and a good recoil pad. Looks like a new rifle now. Held up very well at the range and has better feel to it than wood. Would highly recommend.

Replaced a bubba'd stock on a K98k with the Hogue. Dropped in, I suppose if you wanted to be fussy about it you could trim things, but I left it the way it came and it's perfect to me. Rifle accuracy has improved, and the looks have *definitely* improved. As someone else stated previously, it's great for a work gun. I love the recoil pad compared to the old steel butt plate. Get one of these and some Sellier & Bellot 196 grainers and you're good for anything in any weather.

Not the easiest fit. It took grinding to fit the military barrel, magazine well, and bolt clearance. it took a LOT of grinding to bring down the too high front lug. Another user remarked that the action was rocking in the stock as well. Still a good buy.

Bought this stock for my Serbian made Mauser 98 sporter (Remington 798) in .30-06 and it fits the action like a glove! Absolutely no inletting was needed, tight fitting all the way around. It even has a slot for the safety switch which is on the right side of the receiver ring. The barrel channel aligns with the contour of the barrel very well and free floats the barrel. It is very comfortable to hold. The grip has a nice swell and the texture makes it slip resistant. It makes my rifle look a lot better too. The forend does bend a little if you apply some pressure; but the weight of the barrel is not enough to force the stock to contact the barrel when you use a bipod or sand bag. I have not shot it yet so I can't comment on the effectiveness of the recoil pad but it is thick and according to other reviewers it should be effective. Overall a dramatic improvement over the green factory injection molded stock and I am very impressed by the quality and design of this stock. If you have a Remington 798 or similar do yourself a favor and get one of these. If you have the German K98k from WWII with the "stepped" barrel contour it won't fit in the barrel channel and some inletting is required. And it absolutely won't fit a Yugo M24/47 or M48 as the action on these rifles are slightly shorter.
