Very low quality item. Be ...

Very low quality item. Be prepared to spend hours to achieve any semblance of a professional fit. Even then, given the low quality, it will never fit just right. The forearm barrel channel was wavy, the trigger guard did not fit, the stock did not fit, and the grip inserts all pop out. If you want the barrel to float, get ready for major headaches with this. If you try to use a Dremel with a sanding disk - even on the lowest setting - the material will melt and gum up your bit...Pass on this one.

This stock set is NOT, ...

This stock set is NOT, repeat NOT, a "drop in" stock. My opinion stems from having inlet my first gun stock in 1957 to a Springfield Model 1903 as a high school shop project. I've made well over 100 gunstocks in the years that followed with well over half of them as rifle and shotgun stocks starting with band-sawed wood blanks and completing all the inletting and shaping required. The synthetic forestock of this Advanced Technology set requires FAR, FAR more chisel time to inlet it than you'll find on any 90%-inlet commercial wood stock. The barrel channel is substantially undersize for its entire length and requires significant opening to fit an Enfield No. 4 Mk 1 rifle. The internal profile of the stock for fitting the bottom of the action is about 5/16" too shallow and it is also too narrow for the action. Both dimensions require careful removal of considerable material to achieve a quality fit. Additional work is needed for the trigger's sear to clear the rear boss of the forestock for assembly. The same is true for the trigger guard as it is molded too narrow and too shallow. It is possible that the stock I received was substandard (...a Monday morning production?) and slipped past the QC guys, but I doubt it. If you don't have a complete set of chisels, scrapers and rasps for inletting gun stocks ... or know a guy willing to do a "charity" job (yup, that was me) for you as a friend ... you should pass on this one. One more suggestion. I also recommend using epoxy for the checkered inserts too as the one on the left side of the forestock kept falling out during the inletting process. If you're willing to do the work you will eventually end up with a strong, functional stock.

I've had a No 5 Mk 1 ...

I've had a No 5 Mk 1 Jungle Carbine for some time. The really short butt stock was driving me crazy, and the upper hanguard assembly kept shooting loose. Replacement stocks for these items are hard to find. Did some research and found that the No 5 was based on the No 4 Mk1, so I took a chance on compatibility and ordered it. What a sweet deal! Couple of strokes with a file and it fit like a champ. Added a slip-on Limb Saver recoil pad and the length of pull was perfect! Looks and feels like a new gun, and recoil is WAY less. Couldn't be more pleased.
