This product probably ...

This product probably works as well as the other reviewers state, but, if you are using an RCBS Uniflow Powder measure that is 25 plus years old, you must measure the inside diameter of the powder reservoir as the baffle is too wide to fit into the reservoir. Apparently RCBS made a minor change in the inside diameter of the reservoir some years ago as my old (Over thirty years) Uniflow will not accept the new baffle. In order to make it slip inside, I am going to have to file the "corners' of the baffle.

I also agree that this product is a MUST HAVE if you have a Uniflow Powder Measure and especially if you've added the micrometer adjusting accessory (also available from Midway). This baffle keeps the charge weight from slowly decreasing as the level of powder in the hopper goes down. It is even more effective with extruded and flake powder than with ball powder. With pistol powders this is a virtual necessity if you're running on the edge of maximum loads. If I were running RCBS, this baffle would be a standard equipment part of the Uniflow.

This product has not yet shown its potential on my Uniflow. My load are consistent with or without it. However, if you need to pour powder out of your hopper with this thing inside, be very careful. I had a major spill because I forgot this piece of metal is still inside my hopper.

I use this product in the Uniflow powder measure for pistol powders, Unique, bullseye & 2400. Throw weight varies no more than 1/10th. of a grain and 95%+ is dead on. The RCBS. measure unlike some others is a heavy duty machine and will give many years of service. Their customer service is outstanding.

This powder measure baffle is a must have if you want the highest degree of consistency from you RCBS Uniflow Powder Measure. It allows a consistent powder column from full down to the baffle. It gave me about a 5x consistency when added to my standard RCBS measure (depending on powder shape). With ball powder 0.1 grains is easily achievable. There is a reason that you see this in most competition powder measures. Even RCBS adds one to theirs. As noted else where if you have a very old RCBS Uniflow Measure it may not fit. But then you can still have one but you would need to make one. Just do not use a material that generates SPARKS.

I'd have to say that if you get a Uniflow measure, this accessory is a must. Like the pevious review says, this will tighten up the consistency of the Uniflow from "very good" to "excellent" - 90% within .1 grains, and the occasional few within .2 grains. This also has the ability to ride the powder quantity a little lower with much better accuracy. NOTE: I don't recommend letting the canister get so low that you don't realize you're charging squibs! I'm simply saying that the powder charges are less sensitive to the weight of the powder on top of them with this accessory.

I have had my RCBS powder measure for years. Some bench rest friends taught me how to use it and I've had quite good success with it. My only complaint was the change in thrown weight from full hopper to low. This helped tremendously. I should have gotten this a long time age.
