The Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension 3-Die Set is a great die set for the avid reloader. The 3-die set is designed for straight-walled cases. The set includes CGND Full Length Sizer Die, CGND Expander Die, and CGND Seater Die. The Full Length Sizer Die features a Zip Spindle, with a series of light threads cut on the spindle and spindle collet. This is designed to eliminate spindle slippage and makes tightening the spindle lock a breeze when making adjustments. The CGND Seater Die is designed with a floating bullet seater alignment sleeve and seating stem that aligns the bullet with the case, to improve bullet seating and accuracy. Shellholder sold separately.

I was worried about ...

I was worried about reloading brass from the Hornady 45-70 FTX LeverEvolution ammo. I did some research and decided to buy these dies and the FTX seating stem. They worked great reloading with the 325gr FTX bullets. Remember that the cases are trimmed shorter than SAAMI spec when loading FTX bullets. You will need the FTX seating stem because it's longer if youre going to reload using FTX bullets.

As another reviewer posted, the expander die is off center, and the bullet seating die literally fell apart after loading only 67 rounds. The seater and guide sleeve actually fell out of the die and the retaining clip no longer "retains" them. Not what I would expect from Hornady.

These are outstanding ...

These are outstanding dies and I would say give the seller or the manufacture a chance to make it right before writing a bad review. I have never had any problems with the dies I have purchased and if it did I would take other measures. Don't be discouraged by bad reviews. There are to many good reviews on these dies for anyone not to trust them.

First the good: The ...

First the good: The seater die is especially nice with the traveling bullet seater that makes sure the bullet goes in straight and without careful aligning on the operator's part. Also, the lock rings are superior to RCBS because the set screw actually works to lock the ring in place on the die.The bad: On my set the expand/bell die is pretty much worthless. It expands off to one side of the brass making a very noticeable bulge on one side of the case. I plan on buying a RCBS expander to fix this problem but will have another $25 into just getting a full die set.

I've loaded several hundred rounds with these dies so far and just have to say I love their ease of use, especially the seating die. The sliding sleeve insures the bullet will be in perfect alignment when it enters the case mouth. This means you no longer have to over expand to prevent shaving lead bullets. It also means your cases will last longer because they aren't worked excessively. I load several different bullets, from round balls to the Lyman Postel, so I added the MicroJust seating stem. This makes repeatable seating depths with different length bullets effortless. The only difference between this setup and the Meacham Easy Seater is the Meacham has a window in the side and costs a lot more.Just a hint: if you get carried away and set the crimp a little heavy so the case mouth bulges, all is not lost. Simply remove the decapping assembly from the sizing die and set the die @6 full turns up from full resize. It makes such a nice taper crimp die when used this way!In fact the only problem I've found with these dies is sometimes when I'm seating .459 cast bullets with really sticky lube the alignment sleeve will pull past the retaining spring. I'd like to see a heavier spring or retaining mechanism.I get better accuracy because the bullets are loaded straight and undamaged, and my cases last longer. Any way I look at it, these dies are just money in the bank!

I like these dies. The ...

I like these dies. The bullet seater die has a sleeve to guide the bullet in alignment while seating, a great feature, and it works. I just loaded 100 rounds of 405 gr. Cast Perf gas check bullets and they are tough to seat, but the sleeve makes it easy. Great dies. I recommend adding a separate crimp die (Lee) for best performance on any die set.
