I to had to modify this part. However, the rifle did function after modifying this part. After building a custom rifle using the Enfield action I wasn't obtaining the groups I wanted. I changed the firing pin spring and the cock on close action to this cock on open action to reduce my lock-time, as the orignal lock-time was poor. When this spring arrived it would not fit over the firing pin and had to be turned 0.005". The cock on close mechanism would not allow the firing pin to strike the primer and ignite the powder and requried some machining. However, the results appear to be worth the effort, as I can now consistently obtain <1/2" MOA groups using several hunting bullets. While these two products helped me obtain my desired results, please note I had to do some machining on both parts. For this reason, I would not give 5 stars.

Works great after some ...

Works great after some modifications. For my P17 the leg on the cocking piece was way too long. Measure the original and grind it down, make sure to keep the original shape. I also had to modify the sear on the rifle. First I had to shorten the front peg, if it's sticks up it locks the bolt in the closed position. Then I shortened the sear itself. Be very cautious, too short a sear and it's unsafe. After all was done it's well worth the work, way better trigger than original military. Still plan on adding a Timney trigger later.
