I used the .30-06 Lee Loader kit to load my first 4 cartridges ever just a few days ago. After firing them at the range, three of the four were touching each other on the target paper! That's the best grouping I've ever gotten, well under an inch. Highly recommended! Would recommend a full Lee Powder Dipper set, however, as the one powder dipper supplied will charge only relatively low velocity rounds (around 2200 fps w/IMR4350). The dipper set will allow you to fine tune your powder charge as needed.

I have used this product ...

I have used this product to reload 50 rounds of 30-06 150gr Hornady SPs. This is my first attempt at handloading. Overall a positive experience. The buyer needs to be aware of certain hazards BEFORE handloading with this kit. 1.Eventually you will have a primer detonate while trying to seat it. One of the pilots I fly with smiled when he asked me if that had happened to me yet. I said yes...the 10th round I was reloading. No harm done...just a big cap bang going off under the priming rod. 2.Lee WARNS the reloader NOT to use this reloading kit for HUNTING ammo. You are NOT able to put a taper or roll crimp on the bullet(compression seating only) and sooner or later you WILL have bullets fall into the case. I have had 4 out of 50 do that to me so far. Twice while chambering a round in the breech of my Weatherby. If you plan on hunting get a CAST iron Lee press...I did. 3.IF you really need or want transportability, the key feature of this kit, get the Lee hand press with the Pacesetter Dies and put everything in a gear bag. 4.Te yellow 3.4cc powder dipper is relative to the powder Lee advertises the reloading sheet on...NOT necessarily what you might want to load so you will have to get a scale, sooner or later, to accurately measure your specific powder. Overall this is a good kit for the money and a very easy way to learn handloading and then what not to buy for serious shooting demands or hunting demands. All of the loads published are very SAFE loads for the grain weights listed. What I have now just started to do is a mix of this kit and my home base fixed position Lee Cast Iron Classic Single Stage Press. I will NOT shoot anymore rounds without putting the round through the crimp die on the hand press.

Awesome awesome awesome. 30 bucks for making your own rounds? Beats the heck out of spending 100+ on a good press. I can crank out about a bullet a minute with this kit. All you need with this is the Lee powder dipper set and you're good to make bullets. You really don't need a non marring hammer either, just a hunk of wood and a normal hammer so you don't scratch the die. As for the safety of whacking primers and such, as long as you follow the directions exactly you literally cannot set the rounds off.

Very good basic reloader. I have several of these simple hand loaders. As mentioned before- not a reloader for quantity, but quality is very good.Only suggestion / complaint I have is that the set does not crimp the bullet. Have had problems shooting some of my reloads in a semi-auto (slight misfeeds= bullet jammed into brass)

I have LEE LOADERS for several caliber. I am not a high volume shooter so this loader is very good. Can load a reasonable amount in not much time. The best thing about these are the portability. I can take this to the range to workup several loads and see how they do without having to lug around a heavy press or worse- have to go back to the house.

Excellent for the price, but with a few suggestions. The good news is that the additional items are cheap. The Lee primer pocket cleaner is cheap and effective. You must trim your shells, or some of the rounds will not fully chamber, so get a Lee case trimmer. You must then deburr and chamfer the case mouth, so get the Lee (or Hornady) chamfer tool. A positive crimp is cheap safety, so get a Lee hand press and crimp die. Throw these things in your bag with the Lee Loader and you are good to go. Just be sure that the dipper matches the safe powder load that you choose, and gently even the powder on top of the dipper with a business card or something similar. Oh yeah, don't forget the plastic mallet :o)

Just to be clear I have never reloaded ammo in my entire life. Using the provided list I went out and bought the materials I needed and started reloading right away. The instructions are easy to follow and easy to memorize. I loaded 75 rounds in roughly an hour and a half. Of those 75 rounds I had 4 primers detonate, but I quickly found out that was user error as I was either not seating the primer properly or was continuing to hit the tool after the primer was seated. Overall, this is one of the easiest items I've ever used PERIOD. The amount I saved by reloading with this tool payed for itself 3 or 4 times over. To top it off theres a 2 year warranty on it! I am very satisfied and have already recommended this to several people.

You can in fact crimp your bullets with this kit! On the back page of the instruction pamphlet is a brief description. You simply set the loaded cartridge into the opposite end of the loading tool and using the decapping chamber on the other end give several light taps. It works well! I just loaded my first 20 rounds with this kit and am impressed. It does everything I need it to do for a very low price.

I had borrowed a Lee Classic Reloader from a friend about 15 years ago, and liked the simplicity of it so well that when I moved back to Wyoming and was able to start hunting again that I bought one for myself. Remover the spent primers it very easy; installing primers is not bad, although I did have one primer ignite on me when inserting it, but the tools are designed such that from a safety view the only thing that happened is that it startled me.One advantage of this tool is that only the neck is resized, which means that the loads can only be used and reused in the same gun along with less stress on the rest of the brass.The only negative I can see from using this is the powder measure. In an experiment with a friends balance beam, the Lee scoops can be off by a grain or two, even with being very careful to do the exact same methods each time (such as tapping it the same number of times and leveling it off). The included scoop also limits you to certain powders and only one load of powder. I have used loads from this tool to hunt with, and recently got a deer with a perfect lung shot with a load leftover from 15 years ago. This is a great tool, especially considering the price. From my informal research, reloading with this tool can be improved with a couple of other tools from Lee, and still not have a large investment in tools.

This is a great way to load really accurate ammunition. I have loaded over 150 rounds with this product thus far and have not once ignited a primer while seating it. There is a feel and a sound to this operation and as long as one is careful, the primer should not ignite. I have never had a bullet fall into the case despite the absence of a crimp. The 3.4cc dipper certainly doesn't throw max charges but, according to my scale, they are consistent and make accurate ammo with lighter recoil. I started reloading with this kit and still use it on occasion.
