I have had my set for 22 years. The bits are designed to work with the included ratchet and screwdriver. The knobbed tops on the bits allow you to finely twist the bit with your thumb and forefinger, permitting precise screw manipulation.This set has been invaluable to me in automotive and appliance repairs in addition to gunsmithing work. I would not have been able to take apart my Winchester 1897 Trench Gun without the ratchet and hollow ground bits.Go to Sears if you want a bunch of bits to fit a 1/4" hex driver. If you want an ingeniously designed set of bits and tools that compliment each other in such a small, self-contained box, I can think of nothing better.

There are a good varity of bits that fit my Marlin rifles, Colt SAA, and Winchester 1892. A big downside to the set is the little "wings" on the shafts of the bits and the knob tops on the bits.The knobed tops prevent the use of a different screw driver unless it has a very deep socket. The wings on the bits are there to keep the included rachet from sliding down the bit too far. These wings also easily scratch metal with very little clearence around screws if you are not careful. In some cases this set is useless in tight places because of this.

I bought a set of these over 24 years ago and still have them, I have only chipped the corner of one bit, and it was my fault. If you are busting the bits its most likely your fault too. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a quality set of tools.

As others have said here, the bits are very brittle (too hard) and break easily. If you are uninstalling typical scope rings which may be even slightly over-torqued, as any professional gunsmith must do regularly, you will break the small bits in this set. Better to get a cheap, medium hardness, (but not brittle) Chinese bit for scope rings and simply replace them often if they start to deform!

Absolutely, without a doubt, the finest screwdriver set I have ever owned. All in one compact case. Very professional. And shipped at usual warp speed!! Careful upon initial opening... one of the miniture set screws had vibrated out during shipping and was floating about the inside of case...

The set had all the straight bits I needed. The ratchet in combination with the extension was especially useful. I could operate it with one hand while holding the rifle with the other. I was able to quickly loosen a screw that I could not loosen with a standard gunsmith screwdriver.

I bought a Weaver screwdriver bit and handle set and after shattering two bits on screws I ordered this one. Absolutely top quality and best of all its top quality AMERICAN steel.Don't waste your money on the Chinese garbage. You absolutely will not regret this purchase.

I've had 3 sets of these for the last 10 years. They've been a huge asset to my gunsmithing kit. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. Do understand, these will break under hard/extreme use, but for small projects they work great.
