Tipton's Best Bore Brushes meet or exceed military specifications and are designed to satisfy the shooter who wants the best tools to maintain his or her guns. The components of Tipton Best Bore Brushes will not scratch your bore. The core is a single piece of brass wire that passes through the threaded brass coupler. The corrosion resistant bristles are made from high-quality bronze, which is much softer than barrel steel but more than aggressive enough to scour away lead fouling, copper fouling, and powder residue.

I am disappointed in these brushes. The problem is after after 10 strokes the spiral portion comes loose in the threaded portion and when you push it slightly out of the muzzel it cants and hits the crown on the back stroke. I WOULD RECOMMEND ANOTHER PRODUCT.

I use these brushes for cleaning my rifles, but I also find that they are very good for cleaning the cylinder of my 10-shot .22LR revolver. The charge holes on my Smith and Wesson are cut pretty tight, which is good for accuracy, but it makes them sensitive to residue. After as few as 100 rounds of good quality ammo, the residue builds up to the point where fresh rounds have to be pushed into the cylinder to seat them. Ten charge holes take a lot of scrubbing to remove the wax and powder residue, so I chuck one of these rifle brushes in my cordless electric drill, soak the brush with Kroil, and then use the drill to drive the brush. Rifle brushes are long enough to reach all the way through the cylinder from the breech end. Keep the brush well lubricated with Kroil (or whatever solvent you use) and they will cut the residue better and last longer. Used this way, a brush is good for maybe two thorough cleanings of the cylinder, but it saves a lot of elbow grease. Ten brushes last me about six months.

I use these brushes to clean a Kel-Tec PLR-16 pistol. The brushes are long, so they provide a lot of scrubbing surface, but not too long to fit into the pistol's somewhat restricted breech. These are very well made brushes. The bronze bristles stay attached and don't quickly collapse to a smaller diameter like some brushes. All metals used to manufacture these brushes are durable, but soft enough not to scratch the bore. I use the Otis Tactical Cleaning System, which uses a vinyl coated stainless cable to pull the brush from chamber to muzzle. I wrap a Hoppes Sonara .22 patch around the trailing end of the brush, saturate it with Remington Bore Cleaner, and I pull this 20 times from chamber to muzzle. It's a lot faster than it sounds because there is no time wasted switching between the brush and a patch puller or jag. The leading edge brush bristles do some of the cleaning and the bore cleaner on the patch does the rest. Pull a clean patch with Rem Oil, a clean dry patch or two, and the bore is clean and shiny. The ten pack of these brushes may be a lifetime supply, because they last a long time, even doing double duty as brushes and patch pullers.

The brushes work great. No problems at all. Used them on 221 Fireball, 222 Rem., and 223 Rem. in various rifles with great results. The brushes are a tighter fit than some brands and require a good cleaning rod. I used them on the Tipton 22 cal. carbon-fiber cleaning rod.
