Years ago I was putting together a deer rifle on a budget. I put this scope on a Charles Daly/Zastava .270 with the 98 Mauser action and never looked back. I have carried this rifle/ scope combo for years and its still my favorite set up. This scope has always given me a clear picture in all kinds of weather and conditions. There is little or no difference in eye relief between power settings, and I have never noticed any difference in clarity. This scope is mounted on a rifle that was from the beginning going to be used, and used a lot. Not that I don't take care of my equipment but it has taken all the use and abuse well, very solid zero over the years, just a fine tune before my trip, usually never had to adjust and if I did it was never much. This scope is a solid value and a solid performer.

For the money, this is a fine scope. Clear optics that are bright enough to get the job done in low light settings. Large posts tapering to fine crosshairs make sighting in and shooting during low light conditions a breeze. I have owned a number of Simmons scopes over the years and have no complaints, and no failures. If you want a clear, solid scope for a reasonable price, or have a number of guns needing scopes and a limited budget, this is a great value.

Purchased scope for use with a Stevens 308 for use as a low cost loaner rifle. Good light transmission and held zero for 2 years. Took it to range to check zero this year and lens broke loose after 5 shots.

This scope is taking one heck of a pounding on with max loads and 286 grain bullets out of my 9.3x62 mauser. It has never changed point of impact and the clarity is very good. I think for the money this is the best scope on the market. I did not try the cheaper prosport model, this one is inexpensive enough. The weight and eye relief is a big plus. Don't hesitate on this scope if you do not have a lot of money to spend. You can always upgrade to a more expensive scope later on but I am willing to bet you won't!

Ignore the price as an indication of quality. The scope design and control of manufacture is Meade Labs. Their new method of mounting the erector tube gets rid of many internal fragile parts and makes it the only scope on the market with constant 3.75" of eye relief across the magnification range and the larger internal tube increases field of view by 17%. Parallax is virtually non-existent. The scope is all metal, the ocular lens is large and the image is very bright with good contrast. I mounted mine on a lightweight 9.3x62mm and shot over 100 rounds of hot 286 grain handloads with no ill effects. Don't mean to be overly enthusiastic. I'm just use to getting pretty mediocre products at this price so I was very happy to find a quality scope at this price.

A decent scope for the money I paid, but didn't seem to meet the hype that Simmons sells. While the picture is clear, crisp and distortion free, it is also dark, most likely due to less than average light transmission. I'd be very hesitant to use this scope during early morning and evening hours, especially in deep woods. It's an attractive scope, though, zeroing well at 100 yards, and all functions are smooth. And I always appreciate finger adjustable correction knobs and fast focus eyepieces. I just wish it was brighter!

The scope is bright and crisp, and does not appear to suffer from high distortion, as some other lower priced scopes do. Eye relief is excellent, and constant with different magnifications. The big issue is whether it will hold zero. Time will tell the tale on that. So far, it appears that Simmons may have come up with the new value leader in the scope market.
