My sizer die worked fine, ...

My sizer die worked fine, however the combination seat/crimp die is CRAP! The seating plunger is not long enough to seat the standard 40gr VMAX rounds that are used in the SS197 load (the most popular load for this caliber). So pissed right now! I assumed that 3-die would mean, Size, Set, Crimp (like most other calibers). However, Lyman in this case chose to Size, Flare (which is usually done at the powder measure on my Dillon press) then Size/Crimp in one die, which DOES NOT WORK! How can they mass-make a product without actually trying it first?!

Will NEVER buy Lyman dies ...

Will NEVER buy Lyman dies again. I bought this set, on 2nd use, the expander die snapped off at the thread joint. I called and wound up having to BUY a new expander. They offered to replace the set, but I needed the seating die for the upcoming weekend. Bad choice on my part, but RCBS out of stock. company around!

I purchased these to reload the 5.7. Totally disappointed. I never got past the resizing die. I wrecked 5 cases in a row. I lubed the cases good and used the resizing die. Every case I tried the cases stuck in the die and pulled out of the holder. I purchased the Redding die set and they work perfectly. The only good point is I can use the neck expanding die from this set, the sizing die is junk.

I bought the Lyman 3-Die ...

I bought the Lyman 3-Die Set 5.7x28mm FN for use with my Lee Turret press. The Lyman dies are high quality and they are easy to adjust. The bullet seating die is easy to adjust especially if you have a factory cartridge to get your overall lengths correct. The FN 5.7 is sensitive to bullet seating depth so be sure to get it right. I have successfully reloaded 5.7X28 40gr V-Max using this set. I plan to load the Sierra 55 gr GameKing bullets next. I am pleased with my purchase.

When contemplating the ...

When contemplating the purchase of dies for my 5.7x28 FN I reviewed all of the ratings posted by the various customers of Midway. At that time the Lyman 3 die set in that caliber was on backorder. Having had such great success with all Lyman products in the past I elected to go ahead and order the Lyman dies and in short order they were on my doorstep (Midway actually received them before the forecast date). This three die set is great. No problems of any sort. The resizing die does a great job and the neck sizing die opens things up just the right amount for perfect case mouth tension. It just doesn't get any better. If you're looking for excellent dies for that FN you will not be disappointed with the Lyman three die set.
