I use this product in conjuction with the sidewinder tumbler and it works great. The brass looks brand new after use (approx 16 Hrs of tumbling). I use the same batch of liquid media over and over again by separating the sludge. I accomplish this by draining the tumbler into a container and allow the sludge to settle to the bottom. Then I replace the lost liquid and add just a bit more of the media.

I followed the instuctions exactly and the results were poor to say the least. I even looked up more detailed instructions at RCBS' website. The product says it is "aggresive" and "will clean very dirty cases in minutes". The detailed instuctions say to "tumble for 2 hours or as long as needed". (I guess 2 hours is "minutes"...120 of them). I tumbled some moderatley tarnished brass for 5 hours and the product barely had any impact. My dilution rate was 2 oz. per gallon as per the instructions. The liquid has an oily/waxy substance that floats on the surface and is impossible to mix in properly unless it is heated. The directions do not mention this. I heated the bottle in a hot water bath then measured and diluted. After 5 hours of tumbling, I ended up with an oily/waxy mess inside the tumbler and all over the cases which were still significantly tarnished. I had to use very hot soap and water in conjunction with a toothbrush to hand clean this mess off each case, primer pocket and primer hole. I went back to using Birchwood-Casey Brass Cleaner and then tumbling with walnut shell media and Frankford Arsenal Brass Polish. The RCBS Liquid Media seems to work for some people, however, it did not work for me. In fact, it created more work for me! In my opinion it is an awful product and I would not recommend it to anyone.

For moderate, to heavy oxidation, this product is great! I normally run it for 12 hours, then rinse it off in cool, clean water. For very severe oxidation, I will run the cases again for another 12 hours, and that usually takes care of the problem. I have used this product to clean up WWII .30-06 brass recovered on the battlefields of Europe, though no longer safe to use for live fire, it cleans up the case enough for display.

I would rate this product a zero if that was offered. First batch of brass with SS media and the Sidewinder made me go WOW! After using it, like others mentioned, the media turned cloudy and almost lumpy. Progressively got worse until the entire batch of brass had to be thrown out. My SS media was an oily mess. I sent an email to Midway and RCBS about my dis-satisfaction and Midway gave me an immediate credit. RCSB gave me a song and dance about return policy(Really? Is that how you treat a customer?)

Bought a bottle of this by mistake. I tried it anyway in a gallon milk bottle. Shook the mixture occasionally. Let the brass soak for two days. Rinsed several times and put on a towel to dry.Brass looks new, primer pockets and inside of case are clean. Great product!

I had some RCBS Sidewinder Liquid Case Cleaner that didn't seem to work as it had in the past. The liquid seemingly solidified in the plastic bottles. It left cases looking pretty bad, even after 12 hours in the Sidewinder. I called RCBS and explained what was going on, even telling the service rep that the bottles were the last survivors from a case of the stuff bought about 10 years earlier. He asked me how many I had left , and told me he would send me replacements at no charge. They arrived shortly thereafter, and all is well again with brass cleaning. Great service from RCBS, as always. Great product. Just don't let it sit on a shelf for 10 years.

Here is an update folks. I still love this product but it definitely has a shelf life. The reviews that commented on it darkening or separating were using product that had gone beyond its shelf life. The shelf life is good, but some retailers will in fact sit on this stuff for years, so be aware! At the point you notice your stuff has darkened or separated you should order new product and not use the old stuff. Simple as that. It's similar to a gallon of milk and we've all come to learn that milk has a shelf life, so I hardly consider this a failing. Look at the big picture.

This product, used with the RCBS Sidewinder, sells itself. Utilizing a gallon plastic jug, I fill it with water then pour in 2oz's of media and give it a good top to bottom shake. Generally I run the deprimed brass for about 8 hours. Note: A stronger media to water ratio will cut down on the required tumbling time. I've run a batch for as little as 2 hours with great results. After pouring the media out of the tumbler, pour in enough clean water to cover the brass. Then run the brass through a 5 minute rinse cycle. Drain the tumbler and dump the brass on a towel. Here's the clean primer pocket secret. Freshly out of the tumbler any residue in the primer pockets will easily disappear with a short blast of compressed air. I'll put my cleaned primer pockets up against any new brass.

This product is not consistent. I have used some bottles with great success. But if you get any that are darker colored send them back immediately. They will coat your brass with a waxy substance that is impossible to remove. Essentially your brass is ruined. Don't know if its aged product or defective but if it's a dark color stay away from it!

For those who like to use wet media to clean cases this cannot be beat. I add some of the RCBS liquid to HOT tap water and tumble for 2-3 hours at most. (I use a Thumler's Tumbler but RCBS's own Sidewinder will work equally well.) Rinse under hot tap water using a colander or Midway media separator. Pour into a towel and fold is closed, then shake the cases to shake water out of the interiors. The combination of hot water heating up the brass to dry it itself and shaking it into a towel leaves the brass dry outside. Spread on a towel and air dry the rest of the way overnight. The brass comes out looking new. I highly recommend removing spent primers first in order to get flow through the cases both by the media while tumbling and also by air when drying.

Used 2 oz with 1/2 room temp water and put in RCBS sidewinder tumbler for 90 minutes. Then rinse and let air dry. The brass looked better than new, although it didn't clean the primer pockets.I'd recommend deprime/resize, clean primer pocket manually, and then trim prior to cleaning so all you have to do when the brass is clean is chamfer mouth, prime and load.I am done with dry media and tumbling all night.
