Save time, money and ammunition with the new and improved LaserLyte Laser Boresight. Incorporating LaserLyte's patented one-piece design and caliber-fitting systems the new Laser Bore Sight is fifty percent smaller than the previous model. This easy-to-use product can get a shooter within three to four inches of the bull's eye at 100 yards in about three shots. Constructed from tough T6 aluminum, the Laser Boresighter comes in a sleek red finish and works great on any weapon with at least three inches of barrel length. The Laser Boresighter makes sight-in sessions a breeze for scopes, lasers or iron sights on any firearm from .22 to .50 caliber with included adapters. For maximum versatility the system also works with new accessories (sold separately), including a shotgun adapter for .50 to .75 caliber and improved scope leveler. The Laser Bore Sight activates with a roll switch and is powered by three "393" Silver Oxide or equivalent batteries that provide one and a half hours of continuous use. This unit is also excellent for modern rifles and its modest design works great with most flash suppressors and muzzle breaks.

On my fourth one. The dot is not consistent and will change over time in which it's turned on. I find that it changes size after leaving it on for over 5 mins. My last 2 died and it's a total hassle to get them replaced. They refuse to give me my money back, so I'll just keep returning it till I get one that works right. Much better ones on the market and totally sorry I got this one.

LaserLyte Laser Trainer

Bear in mind there are two similiar products, the boresighter and the trainer that look identical but are completly different in function and use; make sure you order the right one for your purpose. I needed the trainer. It is a small diameter cylindrical red anodized device that has a rod that is fitted inside the barrel. Since it is cylindrical, it should be in perfect alignment with the bore center line. reality is it seldom works out this way,but that is why man invented adjustable sights to make things right. The unit senses the vibration impulse from the hammer falling and the firing pin hitting a snap cap or just the bottom of the reciever. This impulse switches the laser on for a brief time, far less then a second. This is one area I wish I could change. for the following reasons: I use Trainer with a Beamhit 190 Target practice unit to practice for my NRA highpower matches. If I could make any changes to this laserLyte Trainer, I would make the laser conduction period a variable time. This laser stays on just a little longer than the Beamhit unit laser, so the camera/ software registers this extra time on as multiple hits. I have fould that I can use this to my advantage in the training, because if I see the hit's aren't scored perfectly on top of one another, I know my form is not right and I'm moving during trigger squeeze. That has help me improve my form. Battery life is good, just make sure you turn the battery switch off after every use or else parasitic current drain will eat your batteries. I have a signboard in my basement practice range to remind me to check the beamhit/ LaserLyte batteries to be switched off after ever use. This is a good quality unit it does every thing I need. I would buy it again.

Works well, but not Universal

The boresighter does exactly what it's intended to do - get you on paper quickly -but it is NOT "universal". With the proliferation of .17 caliber firearms over the last 10 years you'd think Laserlyte would simply put a smaller arbor on this unit (like SSI's) so that it could be used on .17's. I have to assume that they make too much money selling their .17 caliber boresighter as a stand alone to bother.

I use my laser differently than most folks. I sighted in a rifle the old fashioned way at the range then made note when I got home of the difference in the cross hair position and laser points on my wall. Now, any time I mount a scope, I use that same dimension and it gets me in the ballpark every time. There are some variations due to different scope height dimensions above the bore but it is very close! Is the mini laser perfect? NO! But it is much safer and saves a lot of ammo.

This product is an excellent tool. I am a Heavy equipment mechanic and a shooter. This can be used to check for (v-belt) fan belt pulleys for proper alignment. Now for shooting, go to a truck part store and buy white reflective tape! Put that down range and site your rifle or hand gun-in. Have a good day making some noise.

I used this to sight in my Crimson Trace laser grip on my Smith & Wesson M&P 45. After setting the Crimson Trace to the spot where the bore sighter light was, when I shot at 20 yards, shot was 1/4"-1/2" to the left of center. That is close enough to get the job done. So far I have found this to be a fine product with no problems encountered.

Batteries were dead right ...

Batteries were dead right out of the package. Trying to find replacements but cannot at this time. On/off selector seems cheap and more than likely the cause of draining the batteries during packaging. Adapters seem to work well and comes with a daylight target and easy to read instructions. I hope it works when I find the right batteries.
