This DPMS 16" Stainless Steel AR-15 Bull Barrel is fully chambered and ready to install on an upper receiver. It sports a well-executed and Recessed Target Crown to protect the muzzle and enhance accuracy potential, while its .920" Diameter Bull Contour moves weight to the front end of the rifle for faster shot-to-shot recovery, decreased perceived recoil and less muzzle flip. This barrel is chambered in 223 Remington, and uses a versatile 1 in 9" Rifling Twist Rate that is optimal for use with light- to medium-weight projectiles of up to about 69 grains. A solid choice for general recreational and target shooting, or even for pursuing varmints and other small- to medium-sized game, this barrel can be put to use and excel in multiple different roles. Comes complete with an aluminum gas block, barrel extension and locator pin.

Arrived in poor condition. The barrel was scratched on either side of the gas block, and the gas block had a large gouge taken out of it. Not really too big of a deal, as I was planning on replacing the gas block with a low profile one and running a rifle length free float tube anyway.Checked the bore, appeared a little dirty (apparently test fired, and that's a good thing.) Went to clean it and discovered what appeared to be a burr inside the bore near the gas port. A quick check with a bore scope confirmed this. A little time with the proper tools fixed it. Further inspection revealed that although the bore had been recessed, it was not "crowned." The bore was square with the recessed area, but the "chamfer" was just not there. Again, a few minutes with the proper tools and this too was corrected.If you already have access to gunsmithing tools, and want a heavy SS barrel, go for it. But most people would have to spend an additional $40-100 on tools or even more at their local gunsmith to make this barrel usable. Definitely not worth the money for most people. I would pass on this one and look elsewhere. I hope this barrel is not indicative of DPMS quality, but I am glad I did not also purchase the Mini SASS barrel at the same time. Guess I'll be looking elsewhere for my 18" midlength build.On the plus side, the barrel does have M4 feed ramps, something I was unable to confirm prior to ordering.

Put this barrel on my ar lower with not problems. I like the finish of the barrel but it is heavy for a 16" barrel. I am able to shoot .7 MOA from prone using Hornady 55 gr. Vmax moly loads. Used it to take 1st coyote of the season last weekend.

Replaced my factory Smith/Wesson M&P barrel with a quality DPMS. Accuracy out to 300 yards now. Before it was only 150 yards. Shooting Hornady v-max 55 grain bullets. Able to put 5 rounds in a 2 inch circle at 200 yards.

Update: After installing onto my Upper, I noticed the feed-ramps were not only off-center, but the angle did not match up with the ramps in the upper. I polish all my feed ramps anyway, and it still seems to feed ok. I just don't like to build rifles like that though. I know the upper isn't the problem. Maybe DPMS needs to look into this. Otherwise, accuracy was good as I expected, even with the shallow cut rifling.

Barrel and gas block arrived in excellent condition. Rifling seems to be cut kinda shallow. I'm waiting on my upper to install it and take it to the range to see how it does. I'll post after.So far, I'm impressed with the quality and workmanship, lets see how it does on the range.

Quality product, no issues at all with any part of the barrel. Quality fit and had the M4 feed ramps. Small burr on the gas hole was very easy to remove. The barrel is on the heavier side of the scale but is made to last.

This barrel showed excellent workmanship. I bought it for a 300-yds modified "F" class competition. At this range I found the best results with 75 gr. bullets, which in theory seems too heavy for the 1 in 9 twist. The accuracy is 2/3 MOA for 5-shot groups, which is very good, but not outstanding.The barrel is very heavy, much heavier than I expected for a 16-inch barrel.

Nice finish. Excellent quality. First rate accuracy. Handloads with 40gr/50gr/55gr all sub-MOA and usually 1/2", 5-rds @100. Bushmaster lower, Cerro forge upper, Leopold 4.5x-14x. Makes a very useful varmint rifle to about 300yds. Definitely recommend the barrel.

Just finished my 4th AR build. Everyone is set up in a different configuration ... Tac, Std M4, Pistol and the one I built with this barrel. Used all DPMS parts except the receiver. This barrel combined with the DPMS HiRiser upper is an excellent set up for a short barrel hunting rifle and target shooting. Using Wolf 62g ammo at an indoor range at 50yd with an inexpensive Tasco 8-Point 3-9x40 scope I was able to knock out 1/4" star shapes on a target all day long. Can't wait to go outdoors and see how it performs at 100 and 150 yds.
