This aluminum fore-end is the perfect way to transform your AK-47 into a modern tactical rifle with the ability to securely mount the various accessories compatible with a Picatinny-style rail system. The 2-piece, precision machined forearm features four 6" long mil-spec Picatinny rails, 12 rubber rail guards and a unique attachment system that fits the majority of Romanian AK rifles and variants thereof. No gunsmithing required.

Absolutely awesome. There is a newer version, has 79 in the model number instead of 78. 79 version is a simple drop in part for ALL AK variants, including my MAK 90. This thing is tough as nails, locks up tight with no play, fore, aft or side to side. Spacers are included to insure tight fit. I'd never really done much to my MAK, but this plus the Choate Draganov stock have turned my rifle from a pseudo-turd into the bell of the....well, you get the picture. Choate stock is sweet, folks. Much sturdier than I had anticipated.One thing, the UTG mount will shift point of balance forward about 2 or 3 inches.

Simple to mount, but fits a bit looser than I'd hoped, even with the spacers installed. Make sure not to over-tighten the top as it'll bind the gas piston. Plan on retightening the Allen screws after about 60 rounds or so. Unless you want to use Loctite and attach it permanently. I'm going to try some plumber's tape and see if it helps. Also, take off the rail covers when shooting. I helps dissipate the heat better. The jury is still out on this as far as I'm concerned. I think it's more for making you rifle "tacticool" than tactical.

Absolutely love this hand guard! Fit my WASR 10/63 like it was produced just for it. I have read complaints about the rubber rail covers getting hot and loosening/falling off, so I changed to some polymer rail covers. It adds some weight to the front of the rifle, and gives a good, wide, comfortable grip surface, and a fore grip could be mounted to it without obstructing the magazine in any way. A small dab of blue threadlocker on each bolt is a good way to make sure they don't back out while shooting. If I ever get another ak, this will be one of the first things I get for it.

Put it on in 5 min and made the gun look brand new again. Have two romanians and they're both tacticool thanks too UTG. There's absolutely no play in either of the mounts I've done put a scope on one and red dot on the other both hold zero perfect.

This part rocks! It has a spacer that attaches between the gas tube, and barrel to prevent the gas piston from jamming up, much better than the Midwest. The fit on my Romanian AKM was perfect; it's a 2002 Century Arms. The best part, you can still use your cleaning rod even with shim use. I think I received the new improved pro model, with all the bugs worked out. The rubber covers are awesome! I also use UTGs optics mount off the left side over the dust cover, Awesome also.

Bought this puppy for my M70 Yugo. It works. Slight gap at the front, also had to trim the grenade sight off, but I'm not going to be lobbing grenades from this thing so it was a useless feature anyway. Added a Mako vertical grip as well. This combo makes all the difference in the world. My yugo is 1000% better than before! I also have a place to mount my ATN NV scope now!

Recently mounted this product on my Romanian AK and out of the box I was very impressed with the quality and look. It states on the box that this was made for a Romanian AK but when I mounted it to my AK I found out that when I tightened the 4 screws that secure the upper and lower pieces together it caused my gas piston to jam in the fully forward position. I had to loosen the 2 front screws completely to get my piston to function properly. Grinding on the UTG product had to be done to allow the piston to function properly. It looks awesome now that it is on but what should of took 5 minutes to install took an hour and a half. Usually have had great luck with UTG products and was disappointed this time. I also did not like how the spacers used between the forend and the body just wedge in place instead of being secured better.

Way better than the TAPCO grip my Romanian AK came with. Easy installation, took less than 10 mins. Once I tightened the four screws down (I used LocTite) it was rock solid. For the price you can't beat it, I've looked into other rail systems for the WASR 10 and they're $150+. Gives you many options for grip, flash light, laser ect.

This rail/handguard fits the WASR-10 almost perfectly. The only problem I encountered was the top rail put too much pressure on the gas tube towards the front and caused the gas piston to hang up in the tube at the end of the stroke. A few small shims between the top and bottom rails and it works perfectly. I have yet to get it to full shooting temperature, but I'm pretty sure it will hold strong with a few drops of LocTite here and there. It's well worth the money you save from any $200 rail system.

This is a nice-looking rail. It took some grinding, but I finally got it on over my gas tube without it blocking gas piston operation. Now that it's on, it is solid and looks nice.
