I bought the Levang flash hider to mute the bark of a 16" AR carbine. Since all of the holes in the Levang point down range, it's a lot more polite for the people next to me at the range. It's also a bit nicer when shooting the short barreled rifle from a covered bench. The fit and finish was fine and it installed easily. It does require a crush washer as a spacer even though the Levang flash hider is non-directional. My old crush washer worked fine. The Levang is about twice the length of the issue flash hider and much heavier and bulkier, although the effect is mostly visual. Accuracy is, as far as I can tell, unchanged. There are not any wrench flats on this device so you will need something padded to install it.

This thing works great at the range, but it has a couple of fatal flaws. Installation is tricky - you have to use a pin wrench or similar tool to torque it tight by using the holes in the end. There is a large open cavity between the barrel muzzle and the inner opening of the compensator. A cleaning patch can _easily_ fall off and get lodged in there, requiring you to use a cleaning rod to push it out from the chamber end ..... UNLESS you have it installed on a Kel-Tec SU16 or similar gun that doesn't allow rod access from the back. In that case you have to remove the compensator just to retrieve the wayward patch. What a royal pain in the butt! Essentially, I have to remove my compensator every time I clean the barrel, or else use a bore snake, which I don't like for final cleaning. If the compensator had wrench flats this would be simple. I'm going to file a couple of flats and reblue the steel. I sure wish it came this way from DPMS.

My accuracy remained the same but put the loud crack of the shot forward,so no more ringing ears while hunting. I've recommended this to several friends that really noticed the pleasure instead of the pain of the ringing ears.

Great product! I installed it on a 7.5" AR pistol, and it definitely helps tame the muzzle blast and noise. It looks really good, too. Best of all, it is a fraction of the cost of other, similar products. I would give it 5 stars if it had flats for easier installation.

This is a great product. Just like everyone said, Sound and the blast will be headed down range. This will increase the recoil a little.

GREAT Compensator!! I love it. Was a little bit leary at first but based off of the other ratings I figured that I would give it a shot. I shot 4 (30 round) magazines and didn't need hearing protection. Thoroughly impressed. Installation could be easier if the compensator had wrench flats so that you could use a wrench to tighten it down. NOTE: If you shoot with this on your rifle and you are under a roof of some sort and/or there are walls next to you then you will definately need ear pro. The walls and roof will echo back the report of the blast. But if you are out in the open then you shouldn't have a problem with the noise.

After trying a couple different brakes on my PLR-16 and being displeased with the volume of sound they produced, I tried one of the Levang Linear Compensators. This really changed how pleasant it was to shoot the pistol. I used to have to double up hearing protection indoors, but the Levang made the sound manageable. I'd highly recommend it for a .223 pistol or SBR. It really pushed the sound away from the shooters ears.

Installed this on my first build last Spring. After some testing with open sights and red dots, I installed a scope. The scope was a bit low and while shooting my muffs would get pushed off my ear. I noticed there wasn't the usual sharp bast I'd expected. (I have a 20" bbl.) I took the right muff off completely, and tried without any muffs at all. Certainly loud, but not punishing. Great product. I agree with the fellow that suggested the military and I might add law enforcement, might look into them.

This product works exactly as described. Installation is easy, I just hand tightened mine, though one could easily tighten it further with a piece of leather and a pair of pliers or a pipe wrench. Now my 16" carbine has a "pop" instead of that skull-splitting "crack"! You'll still need hearing protection, but this compensator definately makes the .223 a little more pleasant to shoot. I noticed a bit more muzzle rise, but not enough for me to worry about. Great product!
