Installing a new barrel can be a lot easier if the barrel threads are "chased out" in the receiver first. This is especially true for Mauser rifles because of the wide variance in production tolerances between manufacturers and countries of origin. If the receiver has been drilled and tapped with the barrel off, this tap will conveniently remove the burrs in the bottom of the threads. Threads are 1.100"x 12 threads per inch at 60 degrees.
