This knife seems made well, it holds an edge fairly decent. I use it to clear limbs and brush around my tree stands. If I had realized it was made in china when I purchased it I probably would have made a different choice, 3 stars only because it was made in china.

I have owned this knife for one year now and have used it quite a bit on camping and hunting trips. The steel blade is strong and serves as a good camp knife for clearing brush, making kindling, etc., and it does hold an edge as well as many other camp knives that I've owned. I have never used serations to saw with mainly because I've never had the need. As this was a birthday gift, I'm very happy with its performance. My single complaint is that the handle is a bit too small and the material was not comfortable for steady use in Texas heat. This was easily remedied by wrapping it mil-spec 550 para-cord, problem solved. Now I'm able to comfortably hack away for a long as I need. For a good economical camp knife: (a) you can't go wrong (b) I have recommended it to my friends (c) when you buy from MidwayUSA, they back any product that that they sell so there's no down side.

As long as you know what you are getting, it's a great tool. Notice I say "tool." I personally classify this knife as being too bulky for a simple carry knife. I use it for bushwacking, blind construction, and the like, and it works great for that.It has enough weight to serve as a small machete but isn't too big to act as a massive knife either. The handle is not the most comfortable, but it does hold up well and provide a good grip. The saw on the back of the blade works only up to the point where the blade becomes thicker than the teeth. I like that I can beat on this, and not worry about it being a hundred dollar unit. It is an excellent utility too for that reason.Note- I found that the edge on this knife appeared to be beveled to something other than the somewhat industry standard 25 degrees, and running a dull blade through the carbide teeth of a quick sharpener produced a lot of shavings and no results. Consider that possibility when sharpening.

I am more of a knife collector than a practical user. I find the SOG brand to represent high quality in the blade material, cutting edge, features and handle. The size is big enough to provide use as an effective tool but small enough to allow personal carry. The serrated part of the blade is effectively done as well as the saw teeth on the back of the blade. The Kraton textured grip has a real secure feel to it, the finger guard at the blade offers great safety protection and the laynard hole offers additional carry options. The nylon sheath is of high quality and the external pouch for accessories is very handy. Excellent value for the price.

The SOG Jungle Primitive is a well built knife. It has a 440 stainless blade with saw teeth on the backside for sawing limbs or bone. It comes with a nice durable cordura sheath. The handle is a hard polymer with a raised bump finish for a solid grip. The knife is a full tang design for extra strength. The sheath has a place for a small whetstone, but it was not included with the knife. I would highly reccomend this knife as a multi-purpose camping/survival knife. Another great blade from SOG.

I bought this item on sale and therefore pretty happy. It is a lot of knife for the price I paid. Well made item and SOG quality you can expect; however, there is a lot of hype in the design of the blade which does not prove to be useful in the survival settings. Particularly, saw teeth are useless. They stop working after a couple of inches into the wood. It is definitely not design for heavy duty, hard core survival missions. As a collector item it is OK, I would not pay the full price for for it

This SOG Primitive is big and bold, and cuts as needed in heavy use. I use it while horseback riding, and it acts like a brush cutter in dense underbrush while in the saddle. The price was good, the shipping was as always with Midway, fast and well priced.

A lot of knife for the price. More like a machete length blade. Handle is small but allows me to really wrap my fingers around the digi grip surface for a very solid grip. Edge was very sharp out of the box. Good quality sheath as well.

Disappointed in SOG. Didn't realize why the cost was so low... made in China. Handle is uncomfortable if your hands are bigger than a 6 year olds. Blade is reasonably sharp, but doesn't hold and edge and bends the 1st time you serious chop anything. Sheath is poorly made and awkward. Splurge on something else/better.
