Average for six rounds ...

Average for six rounds chronographed was 2595fps. Certainly comparable to 30-06. Bullet mich's. at .311 (that's 7.775mm, I'll never understand bullet nomenclature)which performed as expected from my somewhat frosted military surplus.313 bore;i.e."Hunting accurate" so to say, (accuracy involves more than the cartridge). Brass is nice. These are the most cost effective way to get brass for reloading that I know of.

I Purchased a box of these to use in my Model 91/30 Mosin. They fed and extracted much better than the box of Wolf brand ammunition I had previously tried. Accuracy was consistent, averaging 1.2 inches at 100 yards. Unfortunately it fires high in mine, about 12 inches at 100. Other than that I found the ammunition to be of good quality and performed well.

Good ammo at slightly high price

Shot well out of my 91/30. Made a half-inch group at 100 yards, my rifle has a dark bore. This ammo shoots 6 inches high though, a common problem for 91/30 Mosin Nagant rifles as they were 'combat' sighted for 300m. Still, ammo works good, shoots clean, makes tight groups and is good for hunting. Only nag is it's price, in my area a box runs $28.

These shoot very well through my 91/30, an Ishevek from 1937. Groups about 2" or so at 100 yards. Shot a decent-sized doe on opening morning, maybe 60 yards out. Shot was a little high, bullet struck the shoulder blade and exploded. A sizeable chunk deflected upwards and mangled the spine. Remaining chunks of bullet and bone proceeded through the chest and out the far side. Tiny fragments of copper, lead and bone all throughout the chest and both shoulders. Needless to say, the deer dropped like a rock.I'm on the fence with this round. Admittedly, it was a poor shot, but it acted more like a varmint bullet than a big game bullet. I mean, it did the trick, but the meat damage was awful. I've got 11 left in the box, so I'll see what happens next year.

I bought a couple boxes of this stuff, intending to use the fired cases for reloading for a couple of Mosin Nagants. Unfortunately, the primer pockets in the cases seem to be too tight in diameter and/or too short in depth for standard large rifle primers. Primer pockets are so tight that maybe two out of three cases would "pop caps" during the seating process (never thought I'd develop a "flinch" at the reloading press, but I got pretty jumpy while trying to load these cases). Nothing seemed to work -- tried different primer brands, different presses, yet primers still blew or just refused to fully seat. It's a good thing I was wearing eye glasses -- no injury to report other than to my nerves (and to my wallet, which is short the price of a couple boxes of useless brass). As far as accuracy was concerned, the original factory loads performed O.K. in my Mod. 91/30 and Mod. 38 Russkies, and the ammo would have been O.K. for big game brush loads at iron-sight ranges. But I bought the stuff with the specific intent of reloading the brass, and for that purpose it seems useless (and, maybe, even dangerous?)If you reload this stuff, make sure you wear eye protection (you aught to anyway), and don't use "magazine-type" primer seating set-ups until you know how your particular cases are performing -- one primer popping off during seating is bad enough; I sure wouldn't want to be around a loading bench if one detonating primer touched off 50 or a 100 more in an automatic primer-seating magazine. It's only a guess on my part, but if such is possible it could certainly prove unhealthy.For what it's worth, a reloading buddy in Oregon said he ran into the same tight-primer pocket problem with some of this brass. He said the pockets in cases from some boxes were O.K., but cases from other boxes "popped caps" for him, too, during primer seating.

These shot better than any others I have tried. Grouped under 2" at 100 yards. I used a Model 44 with a 20 1/2" barrel.

I own a Russian M44 Mosin-Nagant, and intended on shooting these rounds through them. Of very first two rounds I pulled out, the first had the bullet pushed very deep in the case and the second had a crack in the neck of the brass. I had to have the box replaced and the cartridges sent back to Winchester. I think I'll try something else next time.

I just got my first Mosin ...

I just got my first Mosin Nagant M44 and I got a box of these to try first. Well the very first shot went right into the bullseye! I got a 6 shot group into an inch at 50 meters; at 100m I put 5 into 2". I am very pleased considering the use of iron sights and a gun made in 1945! Very easy to clean up, great quality ammo. I can't wait to use it on deer this season.

I used this ammo in my M44 for bear hunting. The rounds grouped just fine for hunting at 100 yards, I have had no malfunctions or problems with the rounds. I shot one bear with it at about 80 yards. I could not recover the bullet because it went clear through the bear and into a stump, but the wound channel was very large and death was instant.
