This is a great addition ...

This is a great addition to your mini. I had it installed in 20 minutes. I just used a drill press and followed directions . I did notice less muzzle rise due to solid bottom. It looks good too.

I installed this sight on ...

I installed this sight on my 182-series stainless steel Mini-14 without difficulty. The instructions were well done, and drilling the holes required purchase of a couple of cobalt bits. The carbine looks better and I know the new front sight will reduce my group size immensely. I'm looking forward to some range time to adjust the rear sight and make some holes and noise!

I must be "that guy" who ...

I must be "that guy" who gets the not-so-good -stuff lately. Finish so-so, one of the flats was milled flush so that will be an obvious miss match in finish (shiney).Edges are rough and some have sharp burrs from dings.I have a 195 series Mini 14 stainless and it ain't going on. So I took it into my work which is a metrology lab and inspected it. The ID form is TERRIBLE and it is undersized by .0015". So I am left with hand lapping into size and hopefully straightening out the form of the ID cylinder a bit. I will be installing it probably next week and will follow up with a functional review after I sight the mini back in.Dissapointing quality for sure.

This is a very well made ...

This is a very well made product, and it was easily installed. Only problem I had with it though is that the directions told me to use a smaller sized drill bit to start off the hole, and I broke it off inside one of the pin holes. So that cause a little bit of stress and then I started swearing. And you also must make sure that the flash hider is full seated on the rifle before drilling. But this is a very nice addition to my 196 series rifle.

Nicely made, matches ...

Nicely made, matches finish pretty well. Muzzle rise was decreased allowing you to stay on target with multiple shots. I put this on along with bedding the action into a Hogue Over mold stock and a trigger job. It dropped my groups down from 6-7 inch stock to 1.5" with Wolf 62gr HP. Pretty darn good especially with that ammo. Not too hard to install. There were some casting marks on mine that weren't cleaned up very well but I didn't buy it to be pretty. All in all a good choice.

I see I'm not the only ...

I see I'm not the only one that has used this product on a 196-series Mini-14, even though the description states 195 & earlier. I believe what they should really say is that it doesn't fit the newer tapered barrel models, which began with the latter 580-series. That said, it's a quality addition to the Mini. I've used both the stainless and the black models. As long as it is seated straight & vertical (use a rifle rest) before drilling the roll pin hole, everything works & looks great. One final piece of advice...buy a new drill bit before installation. I also broke off a bit in the process of installing, and that takes all the fun out of installation. The finished product looks great.

This is a very nice front ...

This is a very nice front sight and its finish matches the rifles finish. It requires you to drill 2 new holes for the new role pins. I had a gunsmith do this. It is a great addition to the Mini 14.
