I just received mine and it has a "tab" right in the middle of the face where the sear engages. If you look at the pic above it would be the sear notch at the top right at the 3 o'clock position. The "tab" is basically an extra little chunk of metal that is on the centerline of the hammer right where the sear engages. Did I get a bad hammer or am I missing something? I've never seen a 1911 hammer like this. For now I have to give this one star, I will gladly change/remove if I find out otherwise.

This was a complete drop in on foster and RIA frame builds, solid 4lb trigger pull with no other work. It is very good looking and functional for an economy part. You can spend a lot more and not get a better part.

As stated in a previous post; nice hammer. Uneventful drop-in on my PT1911. Crisp 4 1/2 pound pull. Well worth the cost. Any one looking for a quality hammer for their 1911 at a truly bargain price should jump on this with both feet. 5 STARS.

Just got my hammer today but have not installed it yet. Nice hammer. I'm expecting good results. PT1911 owners should know; your hammer strut is staked in. Save yourself some waiting and order the hammer strut and pin when you order the hammer.

Midway and S&W get the best buy award for this hammer!!! This MIM hammer is one of the best made and is the same one used in Kimber's custom series pistol, Wilson's "value line" and was also once sold by Chip McCormick. I've compared it side by side to Wilson's and the only difference is Wilson's version has a very slight variation in the skeletonizing and the hammer hooks are more highly prepped and polished. Dropped in as is delivers the standard 4-5lb govt. issue trigger pull. Prepping it with a stone will give a lighter trigger if used with a good sear. If you're on a budget and can't afford a premium tool steel hammer, this is a good option for your project until you can afford the expensive stuff. It will work with Colt, Kimber and S&W firing pin safeties. I haven't heard any negative reports about these hammers, they are the best MIM parts on the market.

My Gvt model RIA had seen a lot of rounds & it was time for a new barrel, so I ordered some "fun" parts at the same time, among them THIS hammer. WOW it shipped fast! I had an awful time drifting the hammer strut pin out of my old bobbed hammer, wouldn't budge. I finally pressed it out in the vice... but that same pin dropped right into this new Colt hammer, no drifting, pressing, or cussing. In fact the whole hammer dropped right in! Looks nice too! Good price, good looks, I couldn't be happier!
