Product Information

The Golden Saber High Performance Jacket successfully combines four critical elements of handgun bullet performance: match-type accuracy, deep penetration, maximum expansion and virtually 100% weight retention. This ammunition also features primer and mouth waterproofing for long-term reliability, nickel-plated cases for reliable feeding, treated powders for low muzzle flash and primers that are triple-inspected during the manufacturing process. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

This ammunition is doing 1145 fps through my Browning Mark III. For 10 shots, extreme spread is 23.08 fps and standard deviation is 9.11 fps....good, consistent ammunition. Feeding and ejection is flawless in the Mark III as well as in an older Classic Model HP with the old style humped feed ramp. It is plenty accurate (2" groups@50') and hits about 2" above point of aim.

Testing for accuracy, reliability and recoil, I went through this standard pressure 124gr load along with a bunch of other offerings including the +p 124gr Golden Saber (GS), Speer's 124gr Gold Dot (GD) short barrel load and standard pressure 124gr load, and both the GS and GD 147gr loads. All fed through my 3rd gen S&W just fine, but the Golden Saber 124 grain loads were both the most accurate and lightest recoiling. The +p GS was easier to control than any of the Speer loadings and the standard pressure load here was very soft-shooting and printed the tightest group. This will probably be the ammo I go for if I want a quality hollow-point.

I have only shot this ammo on occasion in order to test its function in my firearms. It shoots consistently, burns cleanly (or at least not too badly), and accuracy is acceptable to me for continued purchase. I did try doing in-the-dark shooting with my defensive handgun instructor at the range, and my sight vision was not obscured by muzzle flash out of my 3" Px4 SC with this ammo. During my 5-round "rapid fire" at the target in the dark, I could always see the green of my night sights clearly and never felt "frazzled" by the muzzle flash. In fact, I do not even remember the COLOR of the muzzle flash, but it was towards the red-end of the spectrum enough to not blind me. I'd recommend this ammo to anyone, but I WOULD like to see expansion consistency/reliability data, and velocity/muzzle energy data when being shot out of a subcompact (3") handgun through heavy clothing material into ballistic gelatin.

The Rem. GS bullet is very impressive in my tests with the spiral-cut brass jacket. It really opens up and creates a devestating profile. I also obtain my best groups with this round, perhaps in part due to the driving band.

Superb ammo. This is actually my current carry ammo in both my Glock 19 and my M&P9c. Very reliable and very accurate. Nice expansion upon impact. Recoil isn't too bad. I once read that this is the grain size all 9mm were "supposed" to shoot, not sure if true or not but all my 9mm's love this ammo. No jams/FTF/FTE/etc. Very highly recommended. Plus, for the price of some other ammo where you get 20 rounds, here you get 25 for roughly the same price.
