The Lee Auto-Disk Powder Measure automatically dispense charges more uniformly than any other powder measure. The case itself actuates the measure as the neck is being flared. The measure is actuated during the presses maximum mechanical advantage. This assures the smooth, even action of the measure. Built-in baffle and precisely molded, glass reinforced charge disks contribute to the charge uniformity. Four disks included, with 6 cavities per disk for a total of 24 cavities.

Also included is a chart that lists capacity of each cavity with each type of powder. Lee says you can reduce listed charge capacity 10% and safely use data without test weighing charge. For safety, MidwayUSA does not endorse this. This measure is activated as the case neck is being flared and measures powder ranging from 2.7-14.4 grains of Unique and 4.0-21.1 grains of IMR 4064. This powder measure can be used with Lee Rifle Charging Die or Pistol Powder Through Expanding Die

Great powder dispenser. ...

Great powder dispenser. Throws consistent charges and never gets out of adjustment. The 24 disks supplied with this kit more or less covers the needs for the pistol or revolver user. However, this measure has a few weaknesses. First is that fine powder leaks past the metering cavity due to large clearance between the hopper and the disk .I solved this by sanding down the hopper supports just a tad little to reduce the clearance. Leaks are now very, very small. The other weakness is the fastening system of the hopper to the body. lee uses a pair of wood screws which can strip the plastic hopper if overtightened. I solved this by buying pro-auto disk upgrade which allows usage of brass thumb nuts. Lastly, the powder sticks in the cavities due to static electricity resulting in undercharging. I solved this by using a pencil to coat all parts in contact with powder with graphite. Scrub the pencil across these surfaces a few times. This includes the inside of the disk cavity, the drop tube in the body and the surface of the body where the disks slide. This procedure certainly minimized if not fully stopped sticking. This is done only once prior to charging all the cases. I find that the pencil also makes the measure operate more smoothly. Overall the lee disk dispenser is good for its purpose. Just solve the little quirks and your ready to load at most convenient and cheapest way. Note that no other reloading tool allows you to charge automatically and flare the case at the same time like the Lee!. I would also suggest that if you've got the extra money at the onset, you should buy the Lee Pro model as it solves most of the aforementioned problems.

This is an extremely ...

This is an extremely accurate powder measure, but with some faults. When using fine grain powders, it leaks around the edges of the sliding disk and the sliding mechanism sticks after each charge because of the powder that gets under the disk. I haven't tried it on extruded type powders yet, but suspect it will work very well with those. The disk system, while not "tunable" like my other powder measure, is dead consistent, throwing every charge exactly the same as the one before. Because of the soft plastic and only having the two screws to hold the chamber on, I also suspect this unit won't last long if you change disks frequently and/or accidently over tighten it one too many times. Get it for one caliber and a favorite charge and after it is set up (with larger grain powders), I think it will keep you happily loading for a long time.

Positives: Once set up for a charge, gives extremely consistent results. Negatives: As sold, only a fixed range of charges are possible. For example, I can throw 5.1gr of unique, or 5.5, but not 5.2 or any in between. Also, switching disks is a pain. Dump powder, switch disks, refill, measure a charge, and repeat. If you are researching this because it comes in a Lee press kit, make sure to buy the riser and adjustable charge bar that are available. With those two accessories, this is an excellent measure. If not part of a kit, skip this and go for a Lee pro autodisk powder measure instead

Okay, this can be an amazing addition to your reloading set up... BUT... I will hold back one star because you may have to modify it yourself to take it from great to excellent. Since you are a reloader you are probably a bit of a "tinkerer" yourself and will enjoy the process. I wanted to give this product 5 stars for: speed of loading, convenience (combines two operations of expanding and measuring powder into one), and accuracy. ///// I use this to load Accurate No. 7 and, like most other powder measures, it significantly leaks this fine powder. Like others have said here, you could lightly sand the bottom of the hopper to reduce the clearance and pick up a can of dry lube graphite spray and coat the sliding parts (hopper, disk, base). ///// After a "tune up" this has proven to be the most accurate, fast, and repeatable measure I have found. Yes, the Lee data provided is a little conservative, to be expected, no big deal... weigh your charges to be sure.

I've used a couple of these for over 15 years. 9mm and 45ACP I "polished" the disk cavity to get the exact charge I wanted. They are mounted in the tool head on my Dillon 550 and I never change them. They have been flawless with 231. I wouldn't use them if I planned on changing on a regular basis. One of the few lee products I really like. For speed in a modestly priced measure they can't be beat.

All I really have to add to the previous reviews is, if you need graphite to make the disc slide smoothly, why doesn't it include a stick of graphite? And if you need the double disk kit to throw more than a measly 21gr, why doesn't it just come with two disks in the first place? Baffling, but it's a great product once you get used to its uhh quirks.

After reading reviews, I reinforced the lower part of the hopper (where the screws are) with a narrow band of duct-tape before even putting the thing into service. I also got the riser and it is treated as a part of the Auto Disk, staying attached at all times.Rather than removing the tiny hopper screws to change disks, I use needle-nose pliers to carefully remove the spring from the unit, after which the disk can simply slide right out and back in again. Then the spring goes back on for use.The Auto Disk throws very consistent charges for me. But you can't trust the Lee charts. Use a scale for test throws and make a note of how much of a specific powder a given disk hole actually dispenses.

Wow, this lee auto disk powder measure is great. I have done my first reloads for my .38spl. target loads with Bullseye powder. I set the proper disk hole per instructions and screwed the hopper down and started to compare dropped charges. It is either dead on or -0.1grains low. On the negitive side. I noticed it's leaking a little powder on top of the disk every stroke of the press. Not as much as to be a problem. I am very happy with Lee's products and Lee's products are the only way I can afford to reload. Thanks Lee and Midway USA.

Pros-meters well with most powders -easy to use. Cons-older rectangle ones leak powder...annoying, and you have to empty your powder before changing disks. OVERALL-get the pro model. period. it doesn't leak powder and you can change disks without emptying you powder.

I use nearly 100% Lee Precision products. I have one set of dies from another manufacturer of which I bought a set of Lee dies to use instead and a kinetic bullet puller. All other reloading equipment is Lee Precision and I have four different Lee presses!! All of those work excellent. Purchased the Lee Auto disc and double disk kit for powder throw versatility. Since I'm shooting a lot more pistols these days...the auto disc was a no brainer. Did the auto disc throw consistent powder amounts? Yes it did...and I checked and rechecked to be certain. I will tell you that you need to check the grains thrown with the auto disc with a powder scale to be certain of the amount of powder dispensed by the auto disc. Case to be made for this. With using the .76 chamber of a disc...this .76 is suppose to dispense 7 grains of Unique. After checking many times...many...it was a very consistent 6 grains of Unique. I even began to question myself and pulled two loaded rounds and sure enough...both measured exactly 6 grains of Unique.So....is this a awesome product? Yes. Do I trust the amount of consistent powder thrown by the Auto Disc? Yes. Should you check the amount of powder dispensed before loading and spot check during? Yes.I practice a least twice weekly on my own property and I shoot enough where to even use the Lee powder scoops is becoming too slow. This Auto disc I'm sure will cut a lot of time off the loading process. It is becoming time intense. I simply trust Lee Precision and the products Lee produces. Just be able to trust yourself and be safe.
