Provides you with everything needed to connect the Pro Chrono Digital chronograph to a computer and expand it's functionality with the included software program. Now a PC can be used to operate the chronograph as well as collect and manage the data it provides. It has many useful applications both at home or on the range. It is compatible with all Pro Chrono Digital Chronographs.

USB Port Connection - Uses the computer USB port for a wired connection to the Pro Chrono Digital.

Last Velocity Large Display - Create a large size display of the velocity readout and the power factor on your computer screen. The size is adjustable to suit the desired viewing distance. Great for showing the results to a group of onlookers.

Multi-Function Control Panel - Control all of the chrono functions, read a list of velocities from each shot string and the associated statistics, and print a report. You can also input information for calculating the ammo. power factor and foot/lbs.

I ordered the chrono and ...

I ordered the chrono and the interface at the same time, after ordering, I requested info from the manufacturer at which time they informed me that they have a new version in progress, Version 1.9 which they promptly upgraded me from the older version, and so far it's done everything I've wanted. Weather and Work permitting, I have shot over it three times now and as "Computer Challanged" as I am, I've managed to download every thing to my laptop and even combine all the info for one gun into one file. Everything goes directly into my Excel program and I can do whatever I want from there. I have Windows Vista now and plan on getting Windows 7, they informed me there should be no compatability problems. The only problems I've had so far have been "Operator error", but I'm up and running, and most imprtantly, havin' fun shootin' !! No regrets no grypes.

Really basic program you can print only one string at a time. If you save to a file its a file that can't be read by any program I have, you can't recall data saved to a file. Chrono has to be connected to do anything with the program. Tech. support does not return e-mails. It will show velocity in big numbers on your laptop.

Even the new software ...

Even the new software upgrade is a little buggy. I always have a hard time getting the software to communicate with the chrono. However, when it is work it works just fine. Displays speed and calculates Power Factor and you can save the data.

This could be improved by not converting USB to Serial port (archaic technology), and improving the functionality of the program from the remote location. It is useful to see the shot data up close on your laptop, but several functions are lacking from the PC. I haven't tried the print function, but I don't see an easy way to save the data for future use, and you can't do editing to individual shots. The best I can say for the program is that it works for very basic functions.

I have version 1.9 of the software installed on a Dell D830 laptop running Windows XP.Quite simply, the software and hardware does everything it's supposed to do, reliably and without fuss. As other reviewers have noted, the user interface is a bit simplistic and could use some improvement, but the job this utility does is also quite simple. Just remember what each button does and everything goes fine. It reads your data from the chronograph and stores it on your computer in formats, such as CSV, that programs such as Excel can work with. It doesn't make assumptions about what you want it to do. It waits until you tell it what to do, then does it reliably. That's my idea of a well-mannered piece of software.As for the hardware, I have had no trouble what so ever. Hook it up, turn on the chronograph, fire up the computer, and it all works. Again, to my mind that's the way things should be.

I installed the PC remote version 1.9 software. What a great product no more going down range to start or delete. The data is presented in typical format Hi, Lo, Ave, ES, SD plus by simply entering the bullet weight it calculates Ft Lbs & Power Factor. I found an easy way to test the chrono & software prior to going out to the range, just setup the chrono, attach the cable open the program and stretch rubber band and let fly through the chrono. I got 155 fps displayed and I knew everything was working. After you leave the range if you export the different stings you can print out the results using Excel.

Version reviewed -PC Remote Version 1.7.0.0 with VistaThis thing gets the job done, plain and simple. Plus, it's cheaper than the remote which forces you to use hyper-terminal. I use console sessions everyday so no big deal for me, but some computer challenged folks might have a hard time doing anything with the data (if choosing remote over software). The USB works fine with Vista, so you know it'll be fine with XP. I would agree with Mr. Ross Smith about the bullet weight entry errors and elementary programing but I disagree with the print (export) feature. If you select "Print" in the current version available via download your provided with several options to export the data. PDF, CSV and my favorite, TXT. I "print" to text and enter in my reloading data in the text file, now I can save or email to my hearts content.

The program is basically a remote display on your laptop. This program is poorly written. If you backspace or enter a zero in grains field, the program goes crazy and you can not stop it. You can not select a specific shot in a string to delete; it will only delete the last shot. You can not save the information in a useful file format for later use.

I installed PC Remote and proceeded to process data from the ProChrono into excel files. It saves a .csv file for each string, and if all you want is a record of the data, youre done. I pasted the shot velocities into my spreadsheet as a record of the load workup process which includes the chrono statistics, firearm info, load recipes (powder, bullet info, etc.) and the chrono data with excel graphs. I am happy with the results since it saves me from entering the shot velocities one at a time, and my excel ss calculates the stats for me. It also leaves me with the string export files as a backup, and I will probably keep them all since they are only 1 KB in size.It is a simple program and it is limited to the same interface with the ProChrono as the unit buttons since all it does is communicate with the chrono. It is a lot faster and more accurate than reading the screen and writing down the data by hand. While I could ask for a slicker program, its a lot better than no PC interface. Plus, it does act as a remote control for the ProChrono if you need that feature, the BIG display is cool (I don't need it since I shoot alone in the backyard), and the wire for connection is just a simple 1/8" sound cord so you could easily extend farther than the 20 ft. wire supplied.If you like the ProChrono unit and you copy all the data by hand anyway, I think this is worthwhile. If you expect Microsoft-slick programming then you will not like it.
