Lee Precision has been making affordable, high quality reloading equipment for over 50 years. The Lee Perfect Powder Measure is no exception. This powder measure is a great value with excellent features. Some of the outstanding features include the elimination of cut powder and the reduction of jerky action and drum binding over other measure designs. The Micrometer adjuster reads directly in cubic centimeters and the O-Ring positively locks the adjustment and removes any end play. The Perfect Powder Measure throws charges from 2 grains to over 100 grains. To change out powder all a reloader has to do is rotate the hopper 1/4 turn to shut off powder flow and lift off the hopper. The Perfect Powder Measure also has an integral powder baffle and comes with a tapered drop tube to prevent powder bridging.

For more versatility all a reloader has to do is add the Lee Universal Charging Die and the Perfect Powder Measure can be adapted to allow the case to operate measure. The case enters the charging die and the powder measure is actuated dropping a powder charge. Once the ram is fully lowered the measure is positively reset for the next powder charge.

It's really hard not to ...

It's really hard not to give this product five stars. This product isn't the most durable feeling product but mine has performed flawlessly. Measures extremely accurate throws, from light to heavy. Make sure you give it a second or two to drop the powder if you are throwing heavy powder charges (you can visibly watch if drop in the funnel). Also, before I used mine I ran 2/3 of a hopper of powdered graphite through mine and then disassembled it, and cleaned off the excessive residue. This really helped in smoothing up the operation of the charging handle and I think it has also helped to prevent leakage from fine powders. I also wiped the inside of the powder hopper with a dryer sheet to prevent any powder from clinging on to the sides. There is also a neat little math formula included in the instructions for all different types of powders that will put you in the "ball park" on your first attempt when adjusting the powder measure. The "thimble" feature on mine seems pretty much useless, so I just leave it set at "0" all the time. I honestly prefer this powder measure to the RCBS and Hornady powder measures I have used in the past. The powder shut-off feature and the removable hopper are also quite useful when you have finished loading operations. Great product for the money, just take the time to "prep" the powder measure before you use it.

I shoot a lot of Varget ...

I shoot a lot of Varget powder which is a small extruded powder. I was attracted the Lee Powder Measure because of its claim of measuring without cutting extruded powders. The following is my experience. I ran a full hopper of powder through the measure (according to instructions) before I tried weighing the individual throws. Once I started weighing I was very disappointed in the throw to throw accuracy. I then ran some mica through the hopper, still no improvement. Next, I cut off the bottom stop and did find some improvement in accuracy but was still not impressed. I then began adjusting the drum screw until the accuracy improved. I set the Lee measure to throw 25.5 grains of Varget and then set my RCBS to throw 25.5 grains of Varget. After throwing and measuring 30 charges using each measure I recorded the following results. Both the Lee Measure and the RCBS measure threw exactly 25.5 grains of Varget 14 times. They both threw 12 charges that were .1 grain either heavier or lighter than the 25.5 grain target load. The rest of the charges were .2 grain either heavier or lighter than the 25.5. The worst charge thrown was 26.1 grains on the Lee Measure. This overage occurred when my hand slipped off the handle on the upward swing. The accuracy of the Lee Measure is mostly comparable to the RCBS but it took a lot of work to get it there. If you are not inclined to spend hours tinkering with the Lee, then I would recommend buying something else. As for me, I wish I had my money and my time back because it gained me nothing in accuracy. I give it 3 stars because it did not cut or bind on the extruded powder(as claimed) and I do like the shut off feature of the hopper. I am also not thrilled with the RCBS measure and still hope to find one that will give better that .4 grain charge to charge accuracy.

this product works good but it doesnt always throw the exact charge it will be off .5 grains sometimes so i still check all of my max charges on a scale but most of the time i use moderate charges so it doesnt matter

While it does leak a little This has proven to be a very accurate measure. I load both Pistol and rifle rounds and it flows very nicely. I did add a baffle to ensure uniformity and wish Lee would supply or make on available.

i filled it with ww231 to load some 44 mag.amo. and it leeked pouder out the side not a lot but some.the best thing about it is you set it and thats it it stays set.

purchased one of these measures and fell in love ~but like all romances had a bump in the road ~had issues with the funnel and it missing the funnel ~ so i took a 30-06 case and cut the end off and put it in place of the spout ~ works like a dream ~ No more messing with the funnel just put the case to be filled inside the case and your done works great with pistol cases ~you could use a 22 or 17cal for smaller caliber rifle cases !

This is really a decent powder measure for the price. I am sure there are better ones out there for much more money, but I really have nothing bad to say about this one.It measures my powders right where I need them on a consistent basis. Not dead-on accurate, but inside a .2g variance. That might improve after reading some tips on here though. Still, good enough for me for my plinking. It did leak a little bit using HP-38 out of the box, but was easily fixed by tightening it up a tad. No problems otherwise.

When I ordered this, I told myself that if it doesn't work well, I'm not out much money. Well now that I have set it up and used it, I'm hooked. It took very little effort to get it to meter the correct charge. One simple multiplication based on powder VMD multiplied by charge weight in grains to establish an initial setting for the micrometer, then about 3 very small adjustments checking weight thrown with a scale, and it was set. Like everything I use to handle powder, I wiped it down with a dryer sheet to remove static before I set it up. Static is not only annoying, but degrades accuracy and repeatability. Other than that, I basically followed the provided instructions and got the results I wanted. Simple. So far, no problems. I have to agree with Richard Lee on this one, nylon is an excellent material choice for this application. Tough and non-sparking. Will the Lee Perfect Powder Measure last? Time will tell, but I am confident that it will give me good service for a long time and return great value for my reloading equipment dollar.

Actually much more ...

Actually much more accurate than I initially thought. I'm loading handgun so small variations are more important to me. Measuring using the Lee safety scale locked at 4 grains made me think this thing was a POS because it would throw high, then low, then dead on. I was confused until I realized the Lee scale is INSANELY sensitive. Being off by a tenth of a grain makes the beam look like you're off by like half a grain or more because of how sensitive the scale is. So I unlocked the scale so I could measure the charges exactly (expecting to see anywhere from 3.7-4.3) and it was dead on at 4.0 grains every time. Not 3.9, not 4.1; 4.0 exactly. I used W231 which apparently meters very well in this measure so I can't vouch for any other powder's accuracy. But if you are in fact using W231 then I fully recommend this meter. Oh and don't try to do any math like they tell you; it's confusing and a waste of time because the measuring stick or whatever is horribly marked and the directions suck. Just do trial and error and weigh the charges until you get what you want.

The only good thing about ...

The only good thing about this powder measure is the price. The quality is downright unacceptable. While using this measure with Accurate No.5 powder, I observed powder leaking out of the sides of the drum while I rotated it up and down. The amount of effort needed to move the lever increased gradually as more powder got stuck in the mechanism. These parts are made entirely from plastic, which may explain why the tolerances are so loose. Charge weights were as accurate as you can expect with this sort of meter, it really depends on the powder. The charge weights with accurate no. 5 were +/- 0.1 grain, which I think is fine. Other, more flaky, powders like power pistol varied as much as 0.5 a grain with each pull of the lever. You get what you pay for, people. I wont be using this measure anymore, I consider it to be dangerous.
