This universal decapping die works on all calibers 22 thru 45 except for the 378 and 460 Weatherby. Features a unique one piece hardened steel decapping rod that will even decap tough military crimped primers. This decapping die does not need to be lubed and comes with its own plastic storage case. Will not decap berdan primers. Shellholder sold separately.

Great addition to reloading bench. Saves time and energy, just replace shellholder and you're off.

I would certainly try the ...

I would certainly try the decapping die from another manufacturer. The decapping pin broke after 12 rounds of 223 military cases that seemed to have only a moderate crimp and medium press handle resistance. And as others have noted, the pin is not pressed in to the center piece of the die - it is just a machined down center section and not quickly replaceable. I also found that Lyman products web page states that they will warranty a product for only one year. Other manufacturers seem to support their products better and have higher quality.

I use this to decap once fired pistol brass so I can clean and uniform the primer pockets before reloading on my dillon progressive. It works just fine.

I'm with most of the rest, used it for a couple of weeks, broke the decapping pin. Replaced it with the Lee. The Lee has now done thousands, Lyman broke after about 50.

I picked one up and the pin broke after a handful of 30-06 military surplus cases. Works OK with non-crimped cases but terrible with military surplus crimps.

Just picked one of these up at Bass Pro Shops. So far I've decapped 200 5.56 military crimped brass cases with no issues. Just make sure everything is lined up (This includes the brass in the shell holder. Remember this die does not center the brass), and if you run into a tight primer, go slow. It should last for a long time. Midway has the Lyman Universal pin insert available now too.

I bought this at the time because the Lee version was out of stock at the time, and figured I would give the Lyman a try. Unfortunately like the others I have had the pin snap on me. Twice. Maybe 3-400 rounds with the first one, and I dont think I even got 50 out of the second. The first one they sent me a new pin right away, no questions asked, and I haven't yet tried to get a replacement pin the second time yet. Hopefully they keep replacing the pin for free, otherwise I will just switch to another brand.

As others above, my decapping pin has broken, and it's not easily replaced. I cannot find the part with a quick search on the MFG's website. Worked well for awhile, but disappointed that it is unsupported and not easily repairable.

I picked one of these up because it was the only brand in stock at the time. I was very nervous after coming on here and reading the reviews. However, I'm pleased to say that this piece has worked out great for me. I've punched out several thousand primers with it so far, and about 800 of those have been crimped in 5.56 rounds. I don't know if it's be redesigned since the earlier reviews, but it's been well worth the money for me!
