I've not found wear to be ...

I've not found wear to be a problem but, as another reviewer reported, this optional "improvement" caused the larger holes my Auto-Disk to not drop a full charge because the holes don't fully cover the drop tube port at the fully extended position. Powder can hang on the resulting lip--similar to what can happen if you erroneously stack a larger Auto-Disk opening on top of a smaller one. The original non-swivel part that this part replaces had the proper dimensions to not have this problem. At first I thought the problem could be solved by closing the gap with a thin custom washer between the knurled part and the existing forked keeper washer. However, after painstakingly fabricating a .016" thick washer of the correct O.D. and I.D. on my lathe, I found that the gap at the actuator arm permitted the problem to persist. I finally solved the problem by milling .030" off the threaded end of the knurled finger screw part. A greater effort with a file would also work. This surface serves as a stop in the charging stroke. Removing .030" from the stop increased the displacement of the Auto-Disk by about .100" to .200" or so in my press--enough to center the Auto-Disk hole on the drop tube port. Remove material slowly, if you're uncertain about how much to remove because you can't put the metal back! Lee could really do better on this accessory. Sometimes, the money you save by buying Lee products is the money you earn when you figure out how to get them to function correctly. And you're working cheap, by the way!

I have owned the Lee Powder Measure for at least 15 years. One of the 2 screws used to hold the hopper on the measure eventually stripped. I notified LEE and they sent me one free of charge. In the meantime I had used some LOC TITE glue on the screw holes. Its been at least 7 years now and it is holding no problems. It is very accurate. If only LEE could alter the screw problem, it would be perfect. That's all I use for loading pistol rounds on a LEE turret press. Despite the problem, I would buy another one.

Lee, you have to start making your parts out of steel.This part starts out as a 5, though one wonders why it isn't a standard part. As you use it, however, the actuator arm erodes its fulcrum, while the swivel nut erodes its retaining tabs.As a result of the wear (and you'll get glitter bits in your fingers as you install it and remove it), slop is induced into the apparatus, and the swivel no longer retains enough push to move the actuator and disk fully over the drop hole.I checked my charges every few rounds after installing the part, eventually becoming convinced of its reliability. I was quite surprised to look up and notice that the disk wasn't going quite as far as it should. When I shone a light down the extended disk, I was shocked to see an appreciable portion of the disk remaining atop the charging table. That Lee uses a steel actuator arm and a pot metal casting hastens the erosion process.

Nice but NOT needed for the Lee Pro Auto-Disk. The description states that it works with the Pro Auto-Disk, but that powder measure already includes this part. I believe (don't recall for sure) that I added this part because it is a recommended MidwayUSA add-on for the Pro Auto-Disk when preparing an order. Once I received my order, I saw that it is included. Works as advertised just didn't need the extra one!

This accessory is needed ...

This accessory is needed if you bought non-pro auto disk measure. It allows you to mount and dismount the disk dispenser on the powder die w/o rotating the entire measure. IT also allows you to position the hopper where it will not obstruct anything as opposed to the regular fastening system where the hopper ends up in weird locations. Buy it for the best convenience in using the Lee Autodisk measure.
