Pachmayr's Prefit Decelerator Recoil Pads provide the ultimate in recoil control and appearance. Drill bit, anchors and screws needed for installation are included. Pachmayr® pre-fit pads are pre-ground to optimum size for the particular guns and are designed to fit within .050" tolerance on factory stocks. Pad thickness is 1". Since gun stocks may vary in size from gun to gun, please check the fit before installing the pad.

NICE recoil pad. Does ...

NICE recoil pad. Does great job of reducing recoil. Does not fit any of 3 different Marlin 336 stocks. Maybe Marlin has looser quality control than some others, as Pachmayer Pre-Fit pads seem to fit closer on other stocks I've fitted them to. Just don't expect this pad to fit without sanding and you won't be disappointed.

Will not fit any of the Marlin rifles I own from the 1950's to 2003. All the old pads interchange between each other. Pachmayr should update their prints.

The pad fits perfectly ...

The pad fits perfectly after some careful sanding. However, when final sanding with 280 grit emery paper, a hole appeared in the pad where the base of the pad joins the pad itself. All sanding was done by hand with a T-bar to back the sandpaper. Obviously, the side thickness of the pad should be more than it is. Until the hole appeared, I was quite pleased with the fit. Not up to the quality I expect from Pachmayr.

It's sounds like I have work to fit my pad to my 336C Marlin. Everyone had either work by drilling new holes on the butt and sanding to the pad to make a pre-fit fit to the stock. I guess you can't believe everything you read bythe factor information they give you to buy their products. I hope other companies will do a better job to inform the public before they purchase the product.

Worthless. you would be better off finding an old scrap semi tire and cutting out a pattern of stock. it would probably fit better,.... it doesnt match anything about a 336 marlin, size, holes, nothing... I am surprised Pachmayr usually puts out good products

This recoil pad did not fit on any of my Marlin 336 rifles. I tried it on each of them including the older, newer and newest models and the screw holes are not aligned. However this pad did fit perfectly on my Winchester 94 rifle!

Does NOT fit Marlin 336 as the ad states. My Marlin 336 was purchased this year (2010). Holes do not line up. Requires you to drill new holes right next to the factory holes. To do so you must first fill your factory holes then drill new ones to make the pad fit. Even after you drill the pad does not line up perfectly at all. It leaves gaps of unfinished wood visible.

Awful fit, but it works and does a good job of dampening recoil. This product is fine if you don't mind the pad extending a little past the edges of your rifles' stock.

Functional and attractive pad. This particular model was too small for my rifle. There is some variation in Marlin stocks, and Pachmayr #01702 (intended for pre-1996 Savage 110) was a near perfect fit for my Marlin 1895GS. The base of this pad is also easily shaped using fine-grit sandpaper and lightly sanding with a finger around the edges of the stock (cover wood with masking tape) to make the fit even better. Measure your stock and consult Pachmayr to be sure that you're getting the appropriate model.
